Reverse Trick-or-Treating
As our service to the community for the month of October, our 4- and 5-year old classes made crosses and leaf decorations for our friends at Springmoor. They assembled about 35 "treat" bags, containing the craft projects, tissues, pretzels, crackers, and some sweet treats.
Our Tuesday 4's and 5's classes went to Springmoor dressed in their Halloween costumes and gave a bag to a friend.

Ms Julia read a Halloween book, and Ms Katherine led the group in some songs and fingerplays. We look forward to going again in December.
Pizza in Pajamas Story Time Thursday Nov. 15, 5:30 - 7pm
In conjunction with the Scholastic Book Fair, the preschool is hosting "Pizza in Pajamas" story time. Your family is welcome to have pizza and a drink before shopping at the book fair. The children will have the opportunity to hear a storyteller while you shop. The kids can wear their pajamas to story time and be all ready for bed when you get home! Mark your calendars now for this fun evening. Books make terrific Christmas gifts!
December 3 - 7

As part of our service to the Raleigh community, the FOP organizes a Toy Exchange the first week in December. Take some time to clean out your shelves or closets to make room for the new stuff coming at Christmas. Donate the gently used toys or clothes to our toy exchange. To participate, you need to purchase one new toy and bring it, unwrapped, with your used items. You can take/exchange as many items as you brought. We take the new toys and all left over donations to Families Together, to help less fortunate children have a great Christmas.
Fire Fighters from Station 18
We had a visit from some firemen who talked to us about fire safety and then demonstrated the parts of their gear. The children were given the opportunity to touch the fire fighter's suit.

The children were then able to go inside the firetruck to look around.

Have you talked about a safe meeting place with your family in case of an emergency at your house?

Chapel in November

"God has been good to me"    Genesis 33:11
This month in chapel we are learning about King David and his friend Jonathan. Later in the month they will hear about John the Baptist. Of course Sam the puppet (Ms Katherine) comes to chapel and reminds us that God loves us all so much - ALL the time!
You are welcome to come to chapel any time. It's on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:45 - 10:00 am.

Re-link your grocery card to GSLP's number every school year. Each time you shop, the preschool benefits and it adds up. We effortlessly earned over $500 from Harris Teeter last year. More than one school can be linked at a time. We thank you for linking your card. The mission of GSLP is to provide a Christ-centered early childhood preschool through faith-based education and service in a nurturing inclusive environment.
The Educational Philosophy of Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool
The focus of the preschool is to meet children’s needs and stimulate learning in these developmental areas:   *Physical    *Emotional/ Social    *Spiritual    *Cognitive        *Music/Art
To nurture these areas the Preschool’s objectives are to:
  • Integrate Christian faith formation throughout the curriculum.
  • Develop a cooperative/supportive relationship between the child, the family and the preschool.
  • Provide developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Teach children about their relationship with God and all people in the world.
  • Provide tools for assessment of students’ progress.

Our teachers relate education to the child’s understanding about God and Christian life so that the spiritual and developmental aspects of the curriculum become a foundation for a lifelong faith.
