STAFF SPEAKS

The BC and Prince George Chamber's of Commerce will be hosting the #TrueNorth Business Development Forum in a little over one month. This event aims to create a vibrant forum where businesses and leaders can gather to build a more prosperous and resilient northern BC.

Projects & Executive Coordinator Felicia Magee talks a little bit more about the forum in this week's Staff Speaks:
"As final details for the 2018 #TrueNorth Business Development Forum are confirmed, the Prince George and BC Chamber's of Commerce are excited to provide an opportunity for business people from across the north to discuss strategies for growing their brands and communities.

There is an exciting line up of speakers and topics for our forum. We will kick off our day hearing from Dr. Mark Colgate; his presentation, Moments of Power - Whistler Experience , focuses on Whistler's Service values, the 3R's: Be Reliable, Be Responsive, and Build Relationships.

Back by popular demand is RBC Dominion Securities Economist Jim Allworth.

Joel McKay, CEO of Northern Development Initiative Trust, will be moderating our afternoon Economic Development Panel.

In our final session of the day, we will hear from Marsha Walden, President & CEO of Destination BC.

Stay tuned as we continue to release more event details, and countdown with us to the 2018 #TrueNorth Forum on Tuesday, January 16th!"

COLLABORATIONS CORNER

Coming together in 2005, UNBC Physicist Matt Reid and (then) Owner of Wolftek Industries Inc. Bruce Sutherland collaborated for several years to create a unique scanning technology for the wood products industry. A successful prototype scanning system was developed that monitored the density profile of an Oriented Strand Board mat. It was later implemented at the former Ainsworth 100 Mile House OSB plant in partnership with Deltech Manufacturing, the College of New Caledonia and the Northern Development Initiative Trust.
