The Prince George Chamber of Commerce, the College of New Caledonia and the University of Northern British Columbia are pleased to highlight projects that connect campus to business. Like UNBC, CNC’s Accredited Human Resource Management Program’s practicum students learn to apply and synthesize theoretical concepts learned during coursework. As an integral part of the learning experience, the practicum placement is a bridge for the student between the academic present and professional future. The practicum is a three-way partnership between the College, the student, and host employer. All parties in the relationship assume definite responsibilities, perform specific functions, and derive benefits as a result of their involvement.
Practicum student Caitlyn Soder, has been working with Theatre Northwest under the direction of Marnie Hamagami, General Manager, to develop an Intimate Choreography Policy. This unique policy aims to protect actors/actresses, pre and post performance, with guidelines around consent and structure as to what is ok and not ok during a performance.
The policy is in its first draft and Marnie hopes that a final draft will be approved by the board in time for Theatre Northwest’s new season.
