Good Color

February 1, 2024

Join us this Sunday, February 4th, at 9:15am (between the services) for our Annual Parish Meeting. As we’ve done in the past, breakfast sandwiches will be served. We’ll review all the events and successes of last year as well as present and discuss the budget for 2024. We will also be electing four vestry members – three people for three year terms and one person for a one year term. If you would like to be considered for a position on the vestry or if you know someone you think would be a good candidate please submit your name and/or theirs to the office. All confirmed Episcopalians who are sixteen years old and older who attend church regularly are eligible.

Dear Friends,

After two wonderful years, Emily Tsunemori is stepping down from her role as Director of Children’s Ministry to tend to family obligations. Though I am very sorry to lose her from this role, I support her fully in her commitment to her family. Emily has been a joy to work with, and her precious family is a blessing to us all. Please join me in commending Emily on a job well

done!

As you might discern, this does cause some question about our summer camps for 2024. At this time I simply do not know what we will be able to deliver with excellence. This will depend on what leadership transpires and how quickly. I will not rush the process, potentially putting the wrong person in the position just to get the camps off the ground. We will see what the Lord

offers and when. I am open to the very real possibility that we will just “lie fallow” this summer with no camps, and aim for a reboot in 2025. Although this scenario would be a tremendous disappointment to the many families who have come to expect our camps to be a part of their summer, I believe it would be a better option than over-stressing volunteers and inviting chaos

in the parish. Please join me in prayer for this important ministry!

Of course, registration for camps is not likely to open on February 14 as it has for years, and information will be disseminated as decisions are made.

With a hopeful heart,

Prime Timers Chili Cookoff

PRIME TIMERS BRING ON THE HEAT WITH CHILI COOKOFF 2024!

Decked out in fun fiesta decor, the Great Hall was the scene of last Saturday's Prime Timers Chili Cookoff where the taste buds of the Our Saviour judges were tempted with home-made chili recipes.

The quality of entrants made it difficult for the three-judge panel of Josh Pressel and father-son duo Rob and Aiden Iseman. Extra tastes (and then a little more) of chili were provided to ensure that the judges had all the information they needed to agree upon a winner.

Veteran chili taster, Fr. George, admitted he was skeptical at how good the chilis would be (Oh, George!) but he was surprised by the fact that they were all really good. With an accolade like that, who would be the winner?
