Make plans to join in the fun during the 2026 Summer Reading Program from June 1 through July 30. This year's theme is Unearth a Story. RRPL is hosting reading challenges and activities for babies, kids, teens, and adults.
Summer is a unique season when many people, particularly those in school, have extra unstructured time to explore their own interests. The Library applauds self-directed discovery and has a wealth of materials and friendly helpers to support everyone on their journeys.

Joe McDermott kicks off RRPL's Summer Reading Program with a
live performance on June 1 at 10 a.m.
Please join us for our annual Summer Reading Kick-off Concert with Joe McDermott. Joe is a talented musician and storyteller, who will have the whole family dancing to his interactive music. All ages are invited to this free event in the 1st floor Courtyard.
Please Note: Due to space limitations, we are unable to accommodate groups of 6 or more without prior approval. Please call 512-218-7002. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Youth Summer Reading Program
There’s a Summer Reading Challenge for every age. Earn prizes with our mobile-friendly software–it’s easier than ever to register families together and to update several individual reading logs at the same time. Register and track your reading from June 1 to July 30. Starting Monday, June 8, kids and teens can spend their Book Bucks in the Summer Reading Store on the second floor.

Adult Summer Reading Program
Model good habits for younger readers in your life by participating in the Adult Summer Reading Program! For every 300 points you earn, you’ll get to choose a prize! Stop by the third floor service desk from June 8-July 30 to pick your prizes. We have books, stickers, local art, and more. You can earn up to 5 prizes. (You’ll also be entered into our grand prize drawing and special weekly giveaways!)

Rock'N River Water Park Discovery Pass returns this summer!
Do you like to discover new places in the area? Round Rock Public Library offers patrons the opportunity to participate in the Library's Discovery Pass program, which allows library cardholders to reserve a pass to participating Central Texas facilities – free of charge.**
We are proud to announce that our Rock'N River Water Park passes will return for summer 2026. To make our program available to the widest range of library customers, patrons may reserve one pass at a time.
This program allows patrons to gain access to history and culture that educates and entertains at participating locations, including Rock'N River Water Park:
- Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
- LBJ Presidential Library
- Thinkery
- Blanton Museum of Art
- Cameron Zoo Park
**Discovery passes are available for full access library card holders on a first-come, first-served basis. The program is made possible by the Friends of the Round Rock Public Library.

RRPL Welcomes Summer Intern and Celebrates Staff Promotions
Round Rock Public Library is excited to celebrate two staff promotions and welcome a new summer intern to the team! Congratulations to Brian and Kristen on their transition from part-time to full-time staff roles. Their hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving our community have made a lasting impact at the library. We are also pleased to welcome our new summer intern, Sofia, who will be assisting staff and supporting library programs and services throughout the summer season.

Outdoor Family Storytime Hours Change on June 4
Beginning June 4, Outdoor Family Storytime at Round Rock Public Library will start at 9:30 a.m. instead of 10:30 a.m. Families are invited to join us each week for stories, songs, movement activities, and summer fun in the fresh air. The earlier time will help little ones and caregivers stay cool while enjoying all the excitement of Storytime outdoors. Bring a blanket, sunscreen, and your imagination for a fun-filled morning at the library! These programs occur most Thursdays throughout the summer. Please check our online calendar for specific dates.

Join us at Frontier Park and Meadow Lake Park this summer!
Our pop-up library service, Library on the Go, is intended to reach people in our community who may not have easy access to the library. We hope to encourage reading and literacy, connect with the community, and provide library services in a fun and engaging way. The Library on the Go program will be back this summer at Frontier Park and Meadow Lake Park!
RRPL will be at Frontier Park on 4th Saturdays starting on May 23 through August 22 from 9-11 a.m. You can find us at the east end of the park near the playscape and tennis courts. Also, RRPL will be at Meadow Lake Park on 2nd Saturdays through August 8 from 9-11 a.m.

Hot Toast Music: free kids concert
Monday, June 15 at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. (two performances)
YS Program Space (2nd Floor)
Join us at the Round Rock Public Library for a free concert for families with kids of all ages.
Hot Toast Music is an immersive, stick-with-you experience—catchy original songs, DIY instruments, storytelling, and big movement that invite kids and adults to play, connect, and learn about themselves and the world.
There will be two identical performances:
- Monday, June 15, 2026, at 4:00 pm
- Monday June 15, 2026, at 6:30 pm

Quilting and Juneteenth - A Legacy of Family and Meaning

Special Edition Teen Book Club - Jeopardy (ages 13-18)
Tuesday, June 16 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Teens are invited to a book club with a twist.
We will play Jeopardy, and teams will test their knowledge of Divergent by Veronica Roth.
A limited supply of books is available for registered attendees. Participants only need to register if they would like a book club copy of the book. Participants who are supplying their own copy of the book do not need to register.

Teen Lego Challenge (ages 13-18)
Tuesday, June 23 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
YS Program Space (2nd Floor)
Join us in the 2nd floor Youth Program Space for a fun Lego event.
Teams will be given 3 challenges to complete, and Teen Advisory Board members will judge for winners.
No registration required but limited to 20, so arrive early to be allocated a team and be ready to start challenges at 6:30 p.m.!

Adult Book Group Presents: Dinosaurs at the Dinner Party with Author Edward Dolnick
Tuesday, June 9 from 6-7:30 p.m.
Meeting Room A&B Combo (1st Floor)
Dolnick will discuss the fascinating history behind the discovery of dinosaurs and the Victorian-era scientists who first pieced together the concept of these prehistoric creatures from scattered fossil finds. He will also discuss the colorful personalities behind early paleontology, how dinosaur discoveries changed the way people understood the world, and his research and writing process.

Art Class—Create a Colorful Dinosaur Scene
Saturday, June 13 from 1-2:30 p.m.
Meeting Room C (1st Floor)
Samantha Lesan, an expressive artist, will help attendees utilize all five senses, as well as coloring, collage and other mediums, to bring these dinosaurs to life!
This class is for teens and adults (ages 13 and up). All ability levels are welcome.
About the Presenter
After studying psychology, Samantha supported survivors of trauma within various crisis centers. She witnessed that artmaking was therapeutic to both survivors and to herself.

Local Author Meet and Greet
Saturday, June 20 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Lobby (1st Floor) and YS Program Space (2nd Floor)
Celebrate local authors at the Round Rock Public Library’s Local Author Meet and Greet, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the first and second floors. Books will be available for purchase from each author. 10% of all proceeds support the Friends of the Round Rock Public Library.
Children’s Authors will have the opportunity to read an excerpt from one of their books at the end of Family Storytime, which takes place in the Second Floor Program Space.

Unearthing Texas Stories: A TxDOT Archaeologist Explains How
Saturday, June 27 from 2-3 p.m.
Meeting Room A&B Combo (1st Floor)
Before building roads, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) archeologists review how transportation projects might affect Texas' historical and cultural environment. Join Dr Angeliki Cavazos, an archeologist with the Environmental Affairs Division, to discover how TxDOT’s cultural resources team uncovers stories told by archeological sites, downtown squares, local neighborhoods, cemeteries, and family farms. This presentation is part of TxDOT's Beyond the Road campaign.

Library Closed for Juneteenth on Friday, June 19
On Friday, June 19, the Round Rock Public Library will be closed in observance of Juneteenth. We will resume our regular hours at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 20.
During holiday closures, the Library's online resources, including: audiobooks, ebooks, music, movies and research databases are available 24/7 via roundrocktexas.gov/library.
Reminder: There is one book drop available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on the west side of the building on N. Lampasas Street.

Simply add the Partner Libraries to your Libby account, and you’ll be able to browse, borrow, and enjoy titles directly from each library’s collection. (Loan periods and checkout limits vary by library, based on each Partner Library’s policies.) Best of all, this partnership gives you access to a wider selection of titles and allows you to borrow even more items at the same time.
