Staff Training
by Andrea Robinson, Director of Human Resources
As HR Director, I'm proud of our staff. Their professionalism and dedication shines in everything they do, from cleaning to running programs to managing budgets.  All of our employees bring  experience with them. And certainly they learn and grow on the job. However, the Y is also committed to providing a range of training opportunities that allow our staff to develop both personally and professionally. All employees, at every level, are required to participate in a New Staff Orientation, Listen First (to sharpen listening skills), Expect the Best (to hone our member service skills) and Child Abuse Prevention training.

Other staff members are required to obtain department-specific trainings and certifications. For example, lifeguards take a monthly training to practice water rescues and our swim instructors participate in two trainings per nine-week session to review teaching techniques for working with children. Many of us also attend trainings and conferences outside the Y on subjects as wide-ranging as leadership development, bullying prevention, member service, cyber security, social responsibility, and financial development.

Here for you is more than a slogan for our YMCA team. We are constantly growing and improving, putting our best foot forward as we work to serve our members and strengthen our community.

SUMMER CAMP AND PARKING
Please expect heavy traffic in the Rye Y parking lot during summer camp drop- off between 8:30 and 9 am. If the parking lot is congested or full, we recommend you consider parking in a nearby municipal lot.  Click here to view a map of lot locations
In addition, a school bus will be dropping campers off at our side door on Mead Place throughout the day, so as always, please use caution and drive safely on and around the Y property.

UNIVERSAL LOCKER ROOM
Our new universal locker room is now open.  The locker room provides an alternative for our members and is open to all. Until August 18, the locker room is reserved for our summer campers from Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:35-10:45am and 11:45am to 3:15pm.

SUMMER MAINTENANCE
Our summer maintenance period will begin August 19 and continue until Labor Day. During that time we will complete our annual facility maintenance projects, including renovating the men's and women's locker rooms, draining/cleaning the swimming pools, re-finishing the gymnasium and group exercise studio floors,  painting throughout the building and making parking lot repairs and re-striping. Some program spaces will be closed during this timeframe so the work can be completed. A complete list of projects and the specific schedule will be posted in early/mid-August.
