June 2017

Farewell Ellen Watermelon!
Ellen Kaplan, known fondly as Ellen Watermelon, was hired in 1990 to run the Rye Y's summer camp music activities for a couple days a week. After 27 years of leading music, movement and enrichment classes, she is now retiring and moving to Wilmington, North Carolina. She has passed most of her puppets on to Dawny Dew, who will be teaching additional interactive music and movement classes in the fall.
Ellen has brought joy to generations of children,
helped families connect with each other and kept babies and toddlers movin' and groovin'.  Thank you Ellen! We'll miss you.
