Reframe your New Year's Resolutions
Overwhelmed thinking about New Year's resolutions?  By reframing resolutions and breaking them down into smaller, easy-to-sustain goals you'll see big benefits in the long run.  Here are three resolutions we recommend: 
  1. Move More: It's important for children to get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day (30 minutes for adults). Try a new group exercise class or ask our staff in the Fitness Center for suggestions. A fun way for the whole family to get active is playing together in the ExerZone. 
  2. Schedule Family-Time: With work, school, and activities family-time may seem like an impossible ask, but see if your family can have a "screen-free" night with no phones, video games, etc. Instead, use that time to play a board game, play outside or play a game of Nerf together during our Active Family night, listed below. 
  3. Volunteer Your Time: Giving back and supporting neighbors can benefit everyone involved. Not only is it a personally rewarding experience to help others in need, but it's also a way to meet new people or discover an interest. Find an opportunity in your community, such as reading to children at the library or joining the Rye Y's Togetherhood Committee

Locker Room improvement project 
Exciting News....The Board of Directors recently approved the re-purposing of our first floor multi-purpose room into a universal/family locker room to provide more shower and changing options for families, adults and those with any special needs.  Construction on the new locker room will start in early February.  As part of this project we will first create new multipurpose space in our current teen lounge which will be home to a variety of programs including birthday parties, STEAM classes, CPR classes and more.  Conversion of the teen lounge will begin in early January.  Later in 2017 (end of summer) we will be initiating some overall upgrades and improvements in our 2 adult locker rooms. We will provide periodic updates related to all these projects throughout the various phases of construction!

Active Family Friday - Nerf Night, Friday, January 13: 7:30-8:30pm
Join us for a family evening of Nerf! We provide the space, obstacles, coordination, supervision and FUN. Families bring their own NERF gear. Family/Youth Members: $20; Non-Members: $30 (per family).  Click here to register.

EXERDROP in the ExerZone: Wednesdays, 4:30-6:30pm
Drop the kids off in the ExerZone for supervised, safe and structured play!
Ages 5-10, 1 hour limit. No reservations needed; purchase wristbands ($5/child) at Member Services. Limited to 16 children, supervised by two trained Rye Y staff. (No other adults are allowed in the ExerZone during this time.)
Family ExerZone Fun!  Join us for our family classes in the ExerZone! 
Classes for youth 11+ and families with children ages 5 and up
ExerSport with JT: Monday & Thursday, 4:30-5:15pm
Deck of Cards with Will: Friday, 5:30-6:30 pm
Children ages 5-10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times (except during ExerDrop - see above).

Family Zumba - Sundays: 3:30-4:15pm

Gymnast's Night In: Friday, January 13, 7:00-9:30 pm
Ages 5 and up.  A fun-filled evening including dinner, gymnastics, games and more. Family: $25; Youth: $35; Non-Member: $50.  Click here to register.

Teen Ski/Snowboarding Trip (Grades 5-9): Monday, January 16
Join us on your day off for a fun-filled adventure to Thunder Ridge Ski Resort. Participants will enjoy a day of skiing/snowboarding plus lunch! Fee includes transportation, lift ticket, equipment rental, plus lunch. 9am-5pm

Teen Health and Wellness: View our  prime time schedule  for free after school exercise opportunities for teens. We also offer  several programs just for teens including Strength and Conditioning, Teen HIIT Class and Teen Small Group training. The Wellness Center is open to teens ages 15+ or 14 year olds with a Teen Fitness Passport Card. The Freestyle Fitness Zone is open to teens ages 12+ and the ExerZone to teens ages 11 and up.

Heads Up! A Distracted Driving and Walking Poster Exhibit
Each year, the Rye Y sponsors a poster contest for Rye High School students that highlights the dangers of distracted walking and driving. An opening reception and informal awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, January 25 from 5:30 - 7 pm at the Rye Arts Center. See how these talented students use photography and digital technology to get across an important message. Free and open to the public. RSVP to Denise Woodin
Rye Y Annual Fundraising Event
Friday, February 3, 7:30-11:30pm
Join us at Shenorock Shore Club for our Laugh Out Loud Benefit. Enjoy cocktails and comedy, featuring entertainer Tom Cotter, a finalist on "America's Got Talent." The Rye Y LOL Benefit supports the Y Cares Program which helps us keep a powerful promise to the communities we serve: no-one will be turned away from a Y program or activity because he or she can't pay. In 2016, the Y awarded over $420,000 in financial assistance to individuals and families in need.

We are also asking kids to help send kids to camp. One in five of our campers receives financial assistance. We encourage you to dedicate "a sun" in our Event Journal on behalf of your child(ren) to help send kids to camp in 2017. Your donation and children's names will be acknowledged.
