Happy Valentine's Day!

February 2017
Supporting Heart Health at the Rye Y
By Tanya Stack, Senior Director of Membership, Health & Wellness
At the Rye Y, we're committed to supporting you and your family in all of your healthy living goals. Did you know that February is American Heart Month? No matter what your age, you can maintain your heart health by lowering your blood pressure. You can do this on your own by knowing your numbers and by reducing the amount of sodium you eat.  Stop by the table outside the Y's Fitness Center any Monday morning and Helga, our visiting nurse from Greenwich Hospital, will take your blood pressure.
If you need extra support, check out the Rye Y's new Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program. Launched in 2016, this low-cost, flexible program helps participants lower their blood pressure through self-monitoring, nutrition education, and personal support from a trained Healthy Heart Ambassador.  The Y even will provide home blood pressure monitors for participants who need one.
