When choosing a partner to support their philanthropy, it was important to Sally and Karen that they had clear ways to involve their sons, Sam and Joey. The Foundations facilitated a family conversation that engaged the boys and connected the high-level concept of giving to real things they saw in their everyday lives.

Earlier this year, the Foundations helped fund the creation of the Saint Paul Downtown Alliance – a new, cross-sector organization representing downtown businesses, nonprofits, government entities, residents and entrepreneurs.
