Sarasota Farmers Market
Voted Best Local FM
The Sarasota Farmers Market was recently voted "Best Farmers Market" by SRQ Magazine's readership, for their annual "Best of SRQ Local."

Market is Abuzz for Mother's Day

At the Sarasota Farmers Market, we have long believed the Saturday prior to Mother's Day is the official "Take your Mother to the Market Day."  And why not, with over 5,000 sq. feet of plants and produce, scores of prepared food and packaged vendors, and some of the finest craft vendors on the West Coast of FL, the Market truly holds something for everyone.

Shopping not your Mother's thing? That's okay, we have plenty of entertainment options as well. While you walk up and down the Market, be sure to catch some of our new live music on State Street, or a live SNN6 Farmers Market Weather Report, or maybe even attend a free beginners yoga class. And if you get too warm? Check out our brand new misting tent on the West end of State Street.

SNN6 Now Official TV Partner of SFM

Snn interview Kinseys

The Sarasota Farmers Market is thrilled to announce a new partnership with local TV news outlet SNN6. The partnership will make SNN the exclusive television news partner of the Market.

Why are we so thrilled?

As a part of the agreement, SNN crew will arrive at the Market every Saturday at 9 a.m. to shoot a "Sarasota Farmers Market Weather Report" and 30 second vendor interview. The weather report and interview will then be aired at 10:30 am, 11:00 am, 11:30 am, and 12 pm.

"The new partnership with SNN6 will allow us to continue branding the Sarasota Farmers Market across the suncoast region," Farmers Market Chairman Brian Glassmoyer said. "Our new live Saturday morning weather broadcast from inside the market has been an instant hit with both customers and vendors. We couldnt be more thrilled to have such a reputable partner."
SFM Manager Field Trip: Worden's Farm
Managers Field Trip: Worden Farms
Market operations manager Phil Pagano recently visited Worden's Farm.
Market Manager Field Trips are back! Join Market operations manager, Phil Pagano venture to see where your favorite Market produce, plants, crafts, and prepared and packaged foods come from.

The Manager's Field Trip was originally developed three years ago for the Market's newsletter, though it contained solely photos and text about vendors. So why the switch to video?

"Over the last year it occurred to me, with the age of social media and Youtube, what a better way for customers to see and hear from these great vendors first hand," Pagano said.

Pagano's first stop? Worden Farms.

"The video and was a complete success with an overwhelming response from viewers," Pagano said. "Special thanks to Stephen McFadden of McFadden Creative for his filming and editing work."

Future Manager Field Trips will include more growers, bakery's, artisans and a walk around downtown where some vendors have retail shops. Expect Field trips to be out mid-month.

Live Music on East & West Ends of State St

Sarasota Music Scene
If you have strolled past the East or West end's of State Street within the past few weeks, you have probably noticed there are now live-music stages there from 10 am - 12 pm. These stages, along with the local musicians playing on them, is all thanks to a new partnership between Sarasota Music Scene and the Market's Music Committee.

"Partnering with the Sarasota Farmers Market and working with Michael Headley (Co-Chair SFM Music Committee and owner of Red House Designs) has been a great promotional tool for local bands and musicians," Ed Midler, Owner/Promotions and Events Director of Sarasota Music Scene said.

"The local musicians get to highlight their talents and use the market and it's patrons as a marketing tool for their talents, and an opportunity to make new fans and plug events and shows," Midler continued. "I see a great working relationship and a lasting relationship with Sarasota Farmers Market and together we will help grow the local Original Music Scene and creating new opportunities to cross promote the arts in Sarasota.

For those unfamiliar, Sarasota Music Scene (SMS) was created in order to provide Sarasota-based musicians and music venues with a substantial resource to gain recognition, exposure and opportunities in order to collaborate and promote their music and events.

"Partnering with Ed Midler and SMS has been beneficial in so many ways," Headley said. "Not only for the market, but the local musicians to show their talents to the masses. I look forward to working with Sarasota Music Scene in the future creating new opportunities for local musicians and enhancing the downtown experience."
