We at the School of Communication and Information (SC&I) Development Office hope you and your family are healthy and safe during these uncertain times. With this inaugural newsletter, we plan to stay connected and keep you aware of news and events from SC&I and the greater Rutgers community.
The staff at SC&I have been working remotely since mid-March, and online instruction for students began in the spring and continues through summer sessions. SC&I is particularly equipped to thrive in a virtual learning environment, and instruction and support services are running smoothly. As we navigate these trying times separated but together, our strong connection to alumni, supporters, and friends takes on increased importance.
A special thank you to donors who participated in Rutgers Giving Day and those who have generously supported the school, our students, and Rutgers' COVID relief and emergency funds in recent months.
We welcome Jonathan S. Holloway  who began his tenure as the 21st president of Rutgers on July 1, 2020. President Holloway, who is an expert in post-emancipation United States history with a focus on social and intellectual history, joins us from Northwestern University, where he served as provost. Previously, President Holloway served as the dean of Yale College and Edmund S. Morgan Professor of African American Studies, History, and American Studies at Yale University. He is serving on the New Jersey Governor's Restart and Recovery Commission which informs the reopening and recovery efforts for the state. View this message from President Jonathan Holloway .
