Chapter 2019
Liberate Us to a Radical Sense of Mission
June 22-29, 2019
Every five years, the Sisters of Saint Joseph hold a General Chapter. This significant event in the life of the Congregation is a sacred time of prayerful reflection where we discern together how God is calling us forward and elect the new leadership team.

We have been preparing for Chapter for almost two years with the assistance of our Facilitators, Sisters Esther Anderson, OSF, Lynn Lavin, OSF and our Chapter Planning Committee. The Chapter theme was, “Eyes Open, Ears Attentive, and Spirit Alert…Liberate Us to a Radical Sense of Mission.”

The Chapter met from June 22 through June 29 at Chestnut Hill College. During that time, through a communal discernment process, the sisters set the congregational direction for the next five years.

A new leadership team was elected and it is a great joy to introduce: Sister Maureen G. Erdlen (Congregational President), Sister Eileen Marnien (Congregational Vice-President), Sister Teresa Shaw, Sister Karen Dietrich and Sister Owen P. Bonner.

"Rooted in the mission of Christ, ours is the same mission which continually unfolds in the Church, 'That all may be one as you, Father, are in me, and I in you. I pray that they may be one in us.' (Jn 17:21)."
