Welcome to West Basin’s Water Harvest S.T.E.A.M. Adventure, an online journey where you can help discover and solve the mystery of our disappearing water supply! Early bird registrants as eligible for an additional entry into our opportunity drawing featuring amazing prizes like a water-efficient clothes washer + dryer and an electric bicycle! Mayor Garcetti Participates in a Hands-On Turf Replacement Workshop to Promote Water Conservation

Mayor Eric Garcetti participated in a turf replacement workshop hosted by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) in partnership with California Volunteers and the California Natural Resources Agency to promote water conservation. In the past decade, this rebate program has helped replace over 51.1 million square feet of turf in Los Angeles with drought-tolerant landscaping, saving enough water to supply 27,500 homes per year.

The ride guide offers the opportunity to explore DTLA and participate firsthand in the art tradition of the Chicanx community. On this self-guided tour, you’ll witness the powerful and historic moment portrayed in Eduardo Carrillo’s El Grito, and take in Alfredo “LIBRE” Gutierrez’ Transportapueblos: Los Resilientes, the artist’s moving reminder to us of the continued challenges and surpassing resilience of those who migrate to the United States today.

No Cost Resource Available to Contractors: SoCalREN Energy Efficiency Learning Center

Participating Contractors can benefit from the SoCalREN Energy Efficiency Learning Center (EELC). The EELC is available for Participating Contractors at no cost, allowing them to participate in e-learning courses at their own pace from the comfort and safety of their home or office. Participating Contractors can access the SoCalREN EELC as a Program benefit at no cost. The EELC offers an expanding catalog of courses in a variety of categories including HVAC, Sales and Marketing, Commercial Energy Efficiency, Continuing Education Units, Building Performance Institute (BPI), Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), and North American Technician Excellence (NATE).

All these accredited courses can be found in the EELC. Currently, there are more than 80 active courses available.

SoCalGas Begins Hydrogen Blending Tests as Step Toward Net Zero Emissions

SoCalGas recently began a hydrogen blending test at its Engineering Analysis Center and Centralized Training Facility. The test measures the performance of common household appliances like stoves, wall heaters and forced-air furnaces when they are fueled with a blend of hydrogen and natural gas. This is a necessary step toward future blending into the natural gas grid. SoCalGas is among the first utilities in the nation to test the effects of a hydrogen blend on natural gas infrastructure and equipment in a controlled field environment.

Torrance Needs Your Help to Save the Toyota Sports Complex

The City's 6-acre, $3.2 million Toyota Sports Complex is facing potential closure, as the existing lease ends with the Judicial Council of California, an Office of the State of California. If the City and Judicial Council can not reach agreeable terms, the multi-use sports fields will close on October 31, 2021. According to the Judicial Council, plans to develop the property are not likely to be pursued until at least 2032.
