From the Desk of the Director
Mardi Gras season has looked different this year, just like everything else has since last March. We are all praying for the ability to return to our cherished traditions. I remind myself that these are just outward signs of our inner faith. From Mardi Gras customs and celebrations to the solemnity of Ash Wednesday, these prompt us to think more deeply of who we are. Maybe without the parades, parties, and ashes on our forehead, we will wipe away the thin veneer of our faith. This year we are left with nothing but the stark truth, we live in joy and celebration but know of what we are made. Just dust, but made and formed with love from our God. While we are here we are called to imitate Christ, even under the most trying circumstances. I pray that I will use this year to find a deeper understanding of Godly things, to live joyfully, and to most of all live my life with love and charity.

Have a blessed Mardi Gras and holy Ash Wednesday.

LA Catholic Morning!

Live from the Command Center
This time last year my family was getting ready for the Mardi Gras parades in Daphne and Fairhope. Who knew that a year later, the parade would be cancelled due to the Covid pandemic? But, as song from the band, Modest Mouse, goes "We'll all float on ok" And float on we will with a great line up of guests on LA Catholic Morning. Regular LA Catholic Morning, guest and contributor on Fox Network, Steven Mosher returns on Monday to give an update on the situation in China. For Mardi Gras, we are in for a treat, as curator at the Mobile Carnival Museum shares the history of Mardi Gras in Mobile. Assistant professor at Faulkner University shares with us the latest on the Trump impeachment trial. We'll talk with Sr Terry Rickard about Renewal Ministries on Thursday. Finally, on Friday, Lauren Alley and Anthony Tobin share about their latest ministry, Vagabond Ministries.

Don't forget that next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. "Remember, you are dust and to dust you shall return" and I'm pretty sure there is passage about not forgetting to call your Mama too.
