The Fourth Station of the Cross:
Jesus meets His mother
A Prayer Excerpt from Catholic.org:

Jesus, you feel so alone with all those people yelling and screaming at you. You don't like the words they are saying about you, and you look for a friendly face in the crowd. You see your mother. She can't make the hurting stop, but it helps to see that she is on your side, that she is suffering with you. She does understand and care.

Jesus most suffering, Mary Mother most sorrowful, if, by my sins, I caused you pain and anguish in the past, by God's assisting grace it shall be so no more; rather be you my love henceforth till death..

The Fifth Station of the Cross:
Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus to carry His cross

A Prayer Excerpt from Catholic.org:

Jesus, the soldiers are becoming impatient. This is taking longer than they wanted it to. They are afraid you won't make it to the hill where you will be crucified. As you grow weaker, they grab a man out of the crowd and make him help carry your cross. He was just watching what was happening, but all of a sudden he is helping you carry your cross.

My Jesus, blest, thrice blest was he who aided Thee to bear the cross. Blest too shall I be if I aid Thee to bear the cross, by patiently bowing my neck to the crosses Thou shalt send me during life. My Jesus, give me grace to do so..

This week, foresters in France began cutting down the giant oaks to rebuild the Notre-Dame cathedral. Ultimately, over 1000 trees will be needed, but these first eight trees are special. They will form the base of the spire that collapsed and was destroyed in the 2019 fire. These oaks come from the Bercé forest, an ancient and royal woodland that has grown tall, blemish-free oaks for future construction since the 1660’s. In 2020, descendants of these trees were chosen for the Notre-Dame rebuild. Many of them are over 100 years old. In fact, when scientists looked over the beams salvaged from the fire, they realized the trees used were straight and perfect. Builders had been planning to build the cathedral for over 100 years to grow and prepare such trees for the project.

Such vision for a cathedral, planned and built a thousand years ago, just seems staggering. I feel like there should be a lesson in here, something about patience, planning or cooperating with God and man. I think I’ll just be grateful that someone thought to plant the trees and that the French are insistent on rebuilding Notre-Dame in all her original glory. I look forward to seeing it rise from the ashes.

Live from the Command Center
Lately, I've felt a spiritual dryness and have struggled in my Lenten sacrifice. So, it was good to get encouragement from Fr Pat Driscoll during the show on Tuesday to persevere. What's important is that God knows our hearts and that we are trying to grow closer to him this season. HE will be the one that PERFECTS our love in HIM. Speaking of growing in holiness, I've lined up another great set of guests to inspire us in our Lenten journey. On Monday, Paige Courtney Barnes joins us at the top of the hour to share about the Little Flower of Alabama. We'll welcome Dr Joseph Lee, President of Spring Hill College, on Tuesday, to share about Give Day at SHC. On St Patty's Day, Fr Stephen Vrazel gives us a 2 for 1 special as he talks about the life of St Patrick and St Joseph, whose feast day we celebrate on Friday, March 19th. Don Prudlo continues our series on Church history on Thursday. Finally, on Friday, Fr Mateusz Rudzik aka our St Pope John Paul 2nd sound alike, provides our Sunday Gospel reflection.

As Eddie Kendricks from the famous Motown group, The Temptations, once sang, "Keep on truckin'".....and don't forget to call your mama! She loves you!
