The Sixth Station of the Cross:
Veronica wipes the face of Jesus
A Prayer Excerpt from Catholic.org:

Jesus, suddenly a woman comes out of the crowd. Her name is Veronica. You can see how she cares for you as she takes a cloth and begins to wipe the blood and sweat from your face. She can't do much, but she offers what little help she can...

My tender Jesus, Who didst deign to print Thy sacred face upon the cloth with which Veronica wiped the sweat from off Thy brow, print in my soul deep, I pray Thee, the lasting memory of Thy bitter pains.

The Seventh Station of the Cross:
Jesus falls the second time

A Prayer Excerpt from Catholic.org:

This is the second time you have fallen on the road. As the cross grows heavier and heavier it becomes more difficult to get up. But you continue to struggle and try until you're up and walking again. You don't give up.

My Jesus, often have I sinned and often, by sin, beaten Thee to the ground beneath the cross. Help me to use the efficacious means of grace that I may never fall again.

From the Desk of the Director

Friday is the feast of St. Joseph. This year we celebrate twofold, as we are in the Year of St. Joseph as well. Pope Francis declared this special celebration last December in honor of the 150th anniversary of St. Joseph being declared the Patron Saint of the Universal Church. There is much to contemplate and learn from St. Joseph in today’s times. He protected the Holy Family in overt and quiet ways. As Pope Francis said upon the start of this year, “Each of us can discover in Joseph -- the man who goes unnoticed, a daily, discreet and hidden presence -- an intercessor, a support and a guide in times of trouble”.

Catholics around the world celebrate this feast day in big ways and small. For many, it centers around food and family. At my own parish of St. Lawrence, we are having 40 hours of Adoration. In addition, the beautiful St. Joseph’s Altar (image below) is being prepared with fresh foods to distribute to the poor of the area. I hope that you will take some time today to celebrate and ask St. Joseph for his prayers and intercession in our struggling world.

Have a blessed week.
