Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset. –St. Francis de Sales

January 24th is the feast day of St. Francis de Sales. These lines seem just what we need. Harsh words, anger, and discontentment swirl around us. What a blessing to have the saints to remind us of what is truly important.

In St. Francis de Sales lifetime, it was wrongly thought that achieving real holiness was a task reserved only for the clergy and those in religious life; not for lay men and women. Francis insisted that every Christian was called to holiness and sanctity. It reaffirms the teachings of Jesus and the early Church that every Baptized Christian is called to sanctity, no matter what their career or state in life. We are all called to be saints.

Go forth today with calm clarity. We know the truth. He is the truth. No matter the noise and chaos that rains around us, be the love that this world needs. Make the domain around you holy and peaceful today. If we all did this there would be no room anything else.

St. Francis de Sales pray for us.

LA Catholic Morning!

Live from the Command Center
Lower Alabama received some great news this week when Indianapolis Colts and former LA Chargers QB, Philip Rivers announced he was retiring and will be pursuing the next chapter of his career as the head football coach at St Michael Catholic High School in Fairhope. What an exciting chapter in the lives of the student athletes at St Michael CHS! Also last week, McGill Toolen announced the hiring of their new head football coach, Coach Norman Joseph. Coach Joseph will be our featured guest next Thursday and I'm looking forward to getting to know more about him and his coaching philosophy. Some of the other guests that highlight next week include award winning novelist and best selling humorist, Luke T Harrington who will join us on Monday to talk about his podcast, Changed my Mind. Our West Coast news analyst, Rob Artigo, returns on Tuesday to discuss a new book he has written on the history of the Crystal Cathedral in Orange County, Ca. Finally, on Friday, Chase Schmidt, the son of our Community Development Director, Missy, will share about a miracle that happened to his son, Charlie, which is being attributed to the intercession of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos.

Have a great weekend, and don't forget to call your mama!! She loves you!
