Dear New Rochelle community,
We’re excited to invite you to join the discussion of the City School District of New Rochelle’s re-entry plan in a Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, July 29, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
You can join at the Zoom link found here.
The session will be followed by a Board of Education Special Meeting at 8:30 p.m.
on the same link.
The Town Hall will gather your input on the thorough and responsive plan we are formulating to begin the school year in the face of an ongoing pandemic that continues to impact us all. Under the plan, students would return to school some days while learning from home others. By inviting no more than half the student population of each school to learn in class each day, we can more easily provide health screenings at building entrances and enforce social distancing to stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Our aim is to maintain the health and safety of students, faculty and staff above all while continuing
to provide a high-quality, challenging education in nurturing environments, both physical and virtual, where students can learn, explore and grow.
After a brief presentation, the administrators and I will respond to the most common concerns and questions expressed on the platform. These will include comments submitted during the meeting.
We understand that many of you are anxious about returning to school. I want to assure the community, as we confront an ongoing crisis none of us has ever faced before, that we will approach this challenge together, in partnership – the District, students, parents, and community.
Already, the plan has been shaped in part by the hundreds of responses we received to surveys on our distance learning plan and on re-entry. The discussion Wednesday will help us further shape a plan that meets the New York State guidelines and requirements, and that works best for our community.
Sincerely,
