Good afternoon parents and guardians,
In an effort to set expectations as it relates to when and how we will communicate positive test cases in New Rochelle, we are sharing the guidance we received from the Westchester County Department of Health. This guidance will govern the City School District’s communication through these difficult times. If a student or staff member has tested positive and was asymptomatic while in school, no communication to the district and or to the community is needed. If the student or staff member has tested positive who was in the schools while exhibiting flu like symptoms, we have been advised that the correct plan of action is to request that you contact your building principal. The City School District of New Rochelle will then share this information with the impacted building community without sharing the affected person’s name.
Students, staff, and families should be aware that drive-thru testing is available in New Rochelle at Glen Island Park
by appointment only
. Anyone exhibiting signs or symptoms of a respiratory illness, including but not limited to cough, runny nose, sore throat, headache, or fatigue, with or without fever, should contact their healthcare provider and/or the NYS Coronavirus Hotline to schedule COVID-19 testing. While waiting for testing, the Westchester County Department of Health (WCDOH) recommends that you remain at home and self-quarantine.
NYS Coronavirus Hotline number is 1-888-364-3065. Listen to the prompts and select option 2 for New Rochelle residents. Translators are available.
Appointments are necessary and there is a phone registration process. Callers should be prepared to provide their name, date of birth, address, symptoms, prior testing, recent history of travel or hospitalization and underlying health conditions to the operator. The information will be forwarded to a healthcare provider for review. Expect a phone call back within a few days to be scheduled for testing. The WCDOH will not automatically notify CSDNR of your results.
