Dear parents and guardians,
We were advised this afternoon by one of our Albert Leonard Middle School staff members that the staff member has been asked to self-quarantine for possible exposure to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) for a period of 14 days. The staff member learned of this possible exposure this afternoon and thereafter alerted appropriate school officials. We have determined that this same staff member may have been first exposed on Saturday, Feb. 29 and subsequently reported for work and was in the building on Monday, March 2 and Tuesday, March 3.
We have been further advised that the staff member has not shown any actual symptoms at this time. The staff member will not be reporting for work for at least the next 2 weeks.
We have not received any information from any individuals nor the Department of Health that anyone attending any of our schools, including ALMS, has tested positive for the Coronavirus. Furthermore, the Department of Health has not asked or directed the District to close any of our schools at this time.
Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure that the building is safe for our students and staff, we have ordered a thorough disinfection of the building over the weekend. Please keep in mind that the building has been cleaned multiple times since March 3. Please be assured that all of our buildings, including ALMS, will continue to be safe environments for our students and staff.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will continue to keep you informed to the fullest extent possible.
