"Private equity, at its essence, is actually the deciding business... And to make a good decision you need to gather as much information as you can, prioritize it, and make a very large bet. And that bet is getting harder and harder every single day."

Tauber students Alyssa Dern and Aaron Kaplan reached out to Tauber Visiting Executive Joshua Cascade to learn more about the expanding role of operations professionals in the rapidly evolving field of private equity. Josh is a private equity investor with over 24 years of industry experience who has led or co-led leveraged buyout transactions representing over $2 billion in aggregate acquisition value. He has been a frequent guest lecturer at MBA programs including the Yale School of Management, Columbia Business School, Michigan Ross, NYU Stern School, and the University of Chicago Booth.

“With the technology platform in its infancy, work needed to be done to assess the current state, identify opportunities, and establish realistic numbers.”

Pfizer tasked their 2020 Tauber team of Casey Carlson (MBA '21) and Anubhav Gupta (MSE-IOE '21) with standardizing efficient work processes, visualizing capacity utilization, and establishing schedule adherence for the Portable Continuous Miniature and Modular (PCMM) platform, a first-of-a-kind, transportable manufacturing facility for continuous oral solid dose pharmaceutical development.
