A. T. Miller Diaries
In March the Armstrong Texas Ranger Research Center received donation of three (3) diaries created by A. T. Miller.

Abner Theophilus Miller was a private in Company B, Frontier Battalion in 1887. The diaries have entries from January 1, 1887 to July 23, 1888 and give insight in to the everyday duties of a Texas Ranger and the settlement of the Texas frontier. Primary sources from 19 th century, created in "real time" by a Ranger are increasingly scarce. Not only do we have the three diaries, we also have a
published work that transcribes and annotates the entries written by Miller’s great grandson John Miller Morris, A Private in the Texas Rangers: A. T. Miller of Company B, Frontier Battalion. These books represent an important addition to the resources of the Research Center.

The journals of A.T. Miller are donated by the C.B. Morris Family in Memory of A.T. Miller and John Miller Morris. We appreciate their generosity.

Farwell, Casey Eichhorn
Education and Preservation—it’s what the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame is about. Over 54 years more than 4.5 million visitors to Waco and Central Texas have learned about the Texas Rangers and seen the treasures of their past. They have also contributed millions of dollars a year to the central Texas tourism industry.

These visitors have benefitted by school and group tour programs, special events and history conferences, Spring Break and summer camp programs, new exhibits, school curricula, and outreach programs.
Our Education Center has provided more than 200 nonprofit service organizations with meeting and training space. Outreach programs have benefitted audiences from Texas to Canada and New Zealand.

Today’s programs began in FY2008 when the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the Texas Ranger Association Foundation provided start-up funding for an Education Chair. The first Education Specialist, Casey Eichhorn, came on board and quickly developed a variety of quality educational programs gaining a statewide reputation. When the grants ended, the City of Waco wisely created a permanent position to continue these essential programs.

After a decade with the museum, Casey made the hard decision to accept an opportunity to advance in his professional career. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy of programs and contributions that will last for many years to come. The staff and Board wish him well.
