Message from the Mayor

Thanks to the hard work of the Cranford Environmental Commission, along with financial support from the Cranford Jaycees, our Township received a NJ State Grant to build a new rain garden at our recently opened 375 Centennial Ave Recreation Facility. Once completed, the rain garden will treat and detain approximately 2,000 gallons of stormwater per inch of rainfall bound for the Rahway River. This project will also provide an opportunity for community and student education through involvement in the planning and installation.

We want Cranford to be at the forefront of innovative environmental and flood mitigation projects. At the announcement event on Tuesday, I spoke with New Jersey Commissioner for Environmental Protection Shawn LaTourette about additional state support to address Rahway River flooding as well as clean our environment. As part of our “All of the Above” flood mitigation strategy, we are preparing more ambitious requests to take advantage of the NJ Stormwater Assistance Grant Program and other state initiatives to minimize the impact on Cranford taxpayers.

Thank you to our incredible community volunteers who inspire us and continuously improve our town with new projects and programs.

Best,

Brian Andrews

Mayor
