Recreation News

The popular July 4 th Canoe Races are on! Details and precautions are being finalized and will be posted on the Cranford Parks and Recreation Facebook page .
Enjoy nature and outdoor activities at the Township’s Cranford West campground in Hope, Sussex County. Tent sites are available for $25 per night July 3 through September 27. Make reservations here or call 908-709-7283.
Memberships are still available at Orange Avenue Pool. Some have asked the Township to offer day passes this summer. In the interest of public and staff safety, the Township Committee and Swim Pool Utility Advisory Board decided to open the pool to members only. This decision was based on recommendations from Centers for Disease Control and the NJ Recreation, Parks & Aquatics Planning Committee in the event contact training is necessary.
The Cranford municipal pools have not previously offered day passes. This year, we must follow occupancy rules set by the State so it would be unfair for members to be denied entrance because day pass attendees caused us to reach maximum capacity. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to work through the challenges and new guidelines meant to provide a safe and enjoyable pool season.

Downtown News

About Restaurants:  Beginning Thursday, July 2, restaurants will be allowed to serve customers inside at 25% of their usual capacity to conform to the social distancing rules. Outdoor dining, including the use of public streets and spaces, will continue so that restaurants can maximize the number of customers. Check with each restaurant for specific information, hours, menus and information about curbside pick up.

About Street Closures: The Township has approved closing a portion of Eastman Street from North Avenue to Miln Street to permit restaurants and other businesses to use the space. This will be similar to the Alden Street closing that started last week and will continue Thursday afternoons to Sunday evenings. Restaurants are invited to serve customers and other businesses can use the space for classes and activities.

About Parking: Beginning Wednesday, July 1, parking enforcement will resume in the municipal lots. As we continue on the road to reopening businesses and return to some level of normal, managing the parking inventory is important to businesses that rely on turnover of spaces for customers and use of permit spaces for owners and employees.
A reminder that on street parking is available for 90 minutes and the Shopper Lots have three-hour spaces for longer downtown visits. The Parking Garage at Cranford Crossing has four-hour spaces.
