A Message from Mayor Patrick Giblin

I am pleased to announce that safety measures in the Cranford Municipal Building are completed and the building reopened today. The business of government and serving the public continued through these challenging, uncertain months since late March when we were directed to close. Employees began working in the building a few weeks ago after initially working from home.
When possible, consider calling or emailing offices rather than going to the building (contact information is on Township website, www.cranfordnj.org ). If you need to visit the building, please call to make an appointment. This will help keep occupancy down and maintain social distancing. Here are some things to know about the Municipal Building when you visit:
  • The public and employees are required to wear a mask and observe social distancing.
  • Acrylic or plexiglass barriers have been installed in offices and reception areas.
  • Hand sanitizing stations have been installed throughout the building.
  • A secure Drop Box for tax payments will be installed at the rear entrance to the building; official notices and announcements are posted on the Message Board in same area.

I want to sincerely thank residents, business owners, and employees for the extraordinary support and patience while we worked to figure out how to best provide service in a safe environment. There were days when we were not sure if the pool, library, parks and schools would reopen, and when our businesses would be able to greet customers again. Unfortunately, some activities and events that mean so much to families and the community were cancelled and some businesses remain closed. In true Cranford spirit, dedicated and creative people are figuring out how to celebrate graduations, run a virtual Firecracker 4-Miler, create a Drive-In Movie Theater, and use outdoor public spaces for dining, yoga and more.

Wishing everyone a wonderful, safe July 4 th .

Mayor Patrick Giblin
Important Announcement: Indoor Dining Postponed

Today, Governor Phil Murphy postponed indoor restaurant dining that was scheduled to begin Thursday, July 2. The Governor cited the spikes in COVID-19 cases in states that reopened restaurants and pointed to flagrant abuses by some NJ restaurants and bars with overcrowding, disregard for social distancing and people not wearing masks. Indoor dining is postponed indefinitely.

Update about Downtown Parking

Beginning Wednesday, July 1, parking enforcement will resume in the municipal lots. As we continue on the road to reopening businesses and return to some level of normalcy, managing the parking inventory is important to businesses that rely on turnover of spaces for customers and use of permit spaces for owners and employees.
A reminder that on street parking is available for 90 minutes and the Shopper Lots have three-hour spaces for longer downtown visits. The Parking Garage at Cranford Crossing has four-hour spaces.
