Message from the Mayor

As we approach the end of 2021 and get busy with holiday activities it can be hard to remember all of the wonderful events, projects and hard work by volunteers. On behalf of the Cranford Township Committee, we thank the many Cranford residents who serve on Boards and Committees and give many hours working for our town.

In a few days, we will post a form on the Township website www.cranfordnj.org to submit your name for consideration on a Board or Committee. There will be a list of Boards and Committees and the slots that are open.

Thank you,

Kathleen Miller Prunty
Mayor

Fire Safety Tips
Check all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home to make sure they work. Replace the batteries and check the date on the back of the detector. If it is older than ten years, you should replace the detector. Make sure to do this before using the heat or fireplace. Have an escape plan with two ways out, and hold regular fire drills with your family. Check on family, friends, and neighbors who may not be able to test their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Car Theft Prevention
Recently, motor vehicle thefts have been on the rise in Union County, and the Cranford Police Department wants to inform its residents of how to better safeguard vehicles.

Do you have a keyfob/valet key in your car? Do you leave valuables inside your vehicle? Do you know that a thief can tell if your high-end vehicle is unlocked from 50 feet away? Officer Muhammad and Detective D’Agostino explain recent motor vehicle crime trends and methods of crime prevention. Click on the photo at the right to view their video on car theft prevention.
