Senior Bus Transportation Update

Cranford Recreation and Parks Department is happy to announce the Township Senior Citizen bus will resume operation on Monday October 5, 2020 on a limited schedule as follows:

  • Monday: Meeker residents only
  • Wednesday: Lincoln Housing residents only and
  • Friday: non-housing residents only
  • Maximum capacity: 4 passengers and limited to one trip per day
  • Limited to one trip per month per passenger
  • Reservation only     

Time:                        9a.m. – 11a.m.
Destination:            Shoprite

In addition, all passengers must be masked, temperature of passengers will be taken before entering the bus, passengers must complete a covid-19 screening questionnaire and passengers must fill out covid-19 waiver (only need to do this one time).

Centennial Avenue Indoor Pool Reopens October 14

The indoor pool at Centennial Avenue will reopen on Wednesday, October 14th. Please click on the link below for FAQ related to the indoor pool's reopening.

Cranford Porchfest is this Saturday!

Cranford Porchfest, an annual event put on by Cranford Community Connection, is Saturday, October 10th, from 2-5:30 p.m.

There will be 30 bands playing on 10 porches, and two finale locations this year at 5:30 p.m. BINGE will be playing near the Gazebo in the parking lot next to the Firehouse. KGB will be performing at Sherman Park. Please note that masks must be worn and social distancing guidelines followed. You can go to the website for Cranford Porchfest to view a map and schedule.
Congratulations are in Order!

We'd like to congratulate the following Township of Cranford employees for their recent promotions. Erik Hastrup was recently promoted to Superintendent of Public Works. Detective Sergeant Matthew Nazzaro was promoted to the rank of Detective Lieutenant and Detective Spencer Durkin was promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant. Detective Lieutenant Nazzaro will command the newly formed Training & Community Outreach Division and Detective Sergeant Durkin will be the supervisor of the Juvenile Bureau, which includes School Resource Officers. Congratulations to all on these well-deserved promotions!
New Pedestrian Signs and Safety Signals Installed

The Cranford Police Department has been busy installing new flashing school speed limit signs to insure the safety of pedestrians. There will be 24 new signs in total. Some have been installed already, and the rest will be installed in the coming months.
   COVID-19 Case Update (as of 10/7/2020)

  • CRANFORD: 18 active cases, 4 new in community / 561 total (0 new fatalities / 97 total)
  • UNION COUNTY: 17,944 cases (1,193 fatalities / 167 probable)
  • NJ: 209,342 cases (14,360 fatalities / 1,787 probable)

General Election Information

The General Election will take place on November 3rd. All ACTIVE, REGISTERED voters will automatically receive a Vote by Mail (VBM) ballot. There is a ballot drop box outside the Cranford Community Center. If you have additional questions, you can visit the Union County Board of Elections website.
