Cranford Township Facilities Reopen to the Public
Township offices and facilities will reopen to the public starting Monday, Sept. 14. The public can visit the Municipal Building, Cranford Library, and Centennial Avenue Fitness Center. The Community Center will not be open for walk-ins but clubs and civic organizations may reserve a room for meetings or activities.
- Everyone entering a public building must wear a mask and observe other protocols like social distancing.
- Each of the facilities has installed plexiglass dividers, safety signage, and hand sanitizer dispensers
Municipal Building
- The building is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm; you are encouraged to call or email ahead to make certain the person you wish to see is available.
- We ask that you leave the building once you have completed your business.
- The Township installed secure lock boxes at the rear and Health Dept. entrances for your convenience so you don’t have to come into the building if you are dropping off items. You can use the boxes for tax payments, building, zoning and engineering applications and health forms.
- Please use the entrance from the parking lot and go the Reception Desk.

Centennial Avenue Indoor Pool & Fitness Center
- The Fitness Center will be open Monday through Friday, 5 am to 8 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 8 am to 6 pm.
- Maximum capacity is 22 people; if capacity is reached, members have the option to wait (one out, one in).
- Members must scan membership card to facilitate contact tracing, if necessary.
- The facility and equipment will be cleaned and sanitized throughout the day
- Some equipment has been removed and remaining equipment is adequately spaced.
- Members will be required to fill out a pre-screening form upon entry and have temperature taken.
- Arrive dressed for your workout; bring your own hand towel, water, yoga mat.
- Locker rooms are only for hand washing and rest room. No showers.
- No guests will be permitted; babysitting room will be closed.

Indoor Pool: Target date for opening the indoor pool is October 5. Orange Avenue Pool will remain open from now until September 27th, 4-7 pm on weekdays, 12-6 pm on weekends and 11:15 AM - 1:30 PM during the week for lap swim by reservation only.

Cranford Library
- The Library will begin limited open hours for browsing new books in adult, young adult, children, and media collections. This will be in a new, dedicated space inside the Walnut Avenue entrance area.
- The area is small, so one person at a time will be allowed entry for a 10-minute period.
- Small children will be allowed with a parent or caregiver and must be supervised.
- Library users can check out items or request items located elsewhere in the Library at the Circulation Desk. Library staff will pull those items and deliver to the front desk.
- Library hours will be:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 11 am to 1pm and 5 to 7 pm
- Wednesday: 11 am to 1 pm and 7 to 9 pm
- Saturday: 10 am to 4 pm

Community Center
- Community organizations and clubs are invited to reserve rooms for meetings or activities. The staff has information about maximum capacity for each room in the Community Center and will assist you in booking a room to best accommodate your group.
- The gym and teen room remain closed and programs will not resume in person at this time.

Virtual Town Hall on Downtown Redevelopment
Mayor Patrick Giblin, Deputy Mayor Kathleen Miller Prunty, and Township Attorney Ryan Cooper hosted a virtual Town Hall to discuss Cranford’s Fair Share Housing Plan and Redevelopment on an area of North Avenue East. The Town Hall, which was live streamed on TV 35 Facebook page can be viewed here: www.facebook.com/tv35. An updated Frequently Asked Questions will be posted soon.

Practice Bike Safety and Consideration of Pedestrians
It’s great to see so many people leaving the car at home and walking and biking through town. Please obey bike safety rules for yourself and others. And, be mindful of pedestrians. Beep or call out to let them know you are coming.

2020 Bulk Waste Cleanup Program
Through a shared service agreement with PMUA, the Township of Cranford provides bulky waste collection for large items to assist with residential clean-up. The 2020 Bulk Waste Pick-up extends the same price, terms, and zones as 2019. Here is the 2020 Bulk Waste Pick-up Zone Schedule:
- Zone 1 – October 5 - October 16
- Zone 2 – October 19 - November 6
- Zone 3 – November 9 - November 20
- Zone 4 – November 23 - December 4.
Homeowners in Cranford can register for a Bulk Waste collection and pay $120.00 per household for curbside pickup. For more information and to fill out a permit form, please click here.
