Independence Day Celebration Includes Food Trucks, Fireworks on July 3

The tradition of fireworks is returning to Roselle again this summer on Sunday, July 3 at Lake Park High School West Campus, 500 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. This event, with fun for the entire family includes food trucks from Doctor Dogs, Dairy Queen, Aunt Tina’s Sound Bites, and Kona Ice along Bryn Mawr Ave. starting at 7:30 p.m. and a fireworks display that will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.
The northern portion of the main parking lot at Lake Park High School at Bryn Mawr Ave. and West End Rd. is currently closed for repairs and will not be available for the Independence Day Celebration. Limited parking will be available in the south end of the lot, in the Junior Lot at Bryn Mawr Ave. and Mensching Rd., and at Clauss Recreation Center. Please be prepared for street parking and longer than usual walk times to the event.

Garbage and Recycling Pickup on Delayed Holiday Schedule Next Week, Village Hall Closed July 4

Garbage, recycling, and yard waste pickup will be delayed by one day the week of July 4. Homes regularly scheduled for Tuesday pickup will be scheduled for Wednesday, July 6, and Wednesday pickup will occur on Thursday, July 7.

Summer Concert Series Features Live Music at Turner Park July 7

The Summer Concert Series moves to Turner Park on July 7 with live music from Croozin' the Loop starting at at 6:30 p.m. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from the Brothers BBQ and Sweet Ride food trucks.
The Roselle Park District, the Village of Roselle, and Itasca Bank & Trust Co. are partnering to present the Summer 2022 Concert Series featuring live music throughout the community, including shows at Turner Park, Kemmerling Pool, and Downtown Roselle. All shows in the Summer Concert Series are free and open to the public.

Tour Homes and Gardens in Roselle on July 9

Join the Roselle House Walk Committee and the Roselle Park District Garden Club for a tour of six unique homes and six beautiful gardens on July 9. The walk begins at Roselle Village Hall and ends at the Fenz House at Lynfred Winery for one complimentary glass of wine between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m.
Cost is $25 per person ($20 for senior citizens) for tickets purchased ahead of time. Day of registration at Village Hall is $30 per person on July 9 at Village Hall. Participants will receive wristbands at Village Hall starting at 9:00 a.m.

Celebrate Roselle's Centennial With the Old Settlers Picnic July 16

Join the Roselle Historical Foundation for their recreation of the Old Settlers Picnic that was held every year at the grove in Bloomingdale. This event will be held on the grounds of the Roselle History Museum, 39 E. Elm St. and will include live music from Tank & the Beez, raffles, games, pie eating contest, and more. Bring a picnic lunch or purchase food and drinks at the event from Olde Salem Cafe and Pollyanna Brewing Company.

Mosquito Spray Notification Hotlines

Mosquito control is an important step in stopping the spread of diseases like West Nile Virus. In the summer months, trucks canvass Roselle neighborhoods to spray for mosquitoes. While there are no set schedules for mosquito spraying, Roselle residents can find out when spraying will be done in their neighborhoods.
Residents who live in Bloomingdale Township (DuPage County) are served by Clarke Mosquito Control. Residents can contact Clarke’s “Mosquito Hotline” at 1-800-942-2555 to get put on the list to be notified when spraying will occur in their neighborhood. Those who live in Schaumburg Township (Cook County) are served by the Northwest Mosquito Abatement District. Residents can call them at (847) 537-2306 to be put on their spray notification list.

Roselle Fire Department Offering CPR Course July 7

The Roselle Fire Department is offering a Heartsaver CPR/AED course on Thursday, July 7 at the Fire Station, 100 E. Maple Ave., from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The cost of the course is $45, paid in advance.
The course teaches participants when to phone 9-1-1, how to administer CPR, how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and how to provide relief from choking. Participation includes American Heart Association certification.

Police Department Offering AARP Smart Driver Course

The Roselle Police Department, in cooperation with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is hosting a Smart Driver Course on July 20 & 21. The class will meet from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on each day of the course, at the Roselle Police Department, 103 S. Prospect.
The program is a two-day course and is open to all drivers. Participants will refine existing driving skills and develop safe, defensive driving techniques. They will review how to handle adverse driving conditions and traffic hazards and learn about the effects of aging and medication on driving, and more.
The cost is $20 for AARP members or $25 for non-members. The fee covers all classroom materials. Registration forms are available online.
