As you might recall from previous newsletters, this Saturday is our Fall Concert and Pig Roast at our village park on Wadsworth Road.  

There's something different and better this year.... our new playground, tennis, and basketball courts are completed and fully operational.  Your village board worked long and hard on its design and equipment choices and we are very pleased with the outcome.  We think you will be, too!

So feel free to bring your kids to play on the new stuff.  Think you can still go one-on-one with Jordan?  If so, bring your buddy and check out the new hoops.  Wimbledon fan?  The tennis court rocks.  

Maybe basketballs and tennis balls aren't your thing but you excel at the bean bag toss.  We've installed permanent boxes so all you need are your own bean bags.  At some future point we'll be renting bean bags for your convenience.

Think about coming early to avail yourself, family, and friends of the newest additions to our park, the village's crown jewel. Stay for the concert, pig roast, and awesome bonfire to make a great day out of it all.

We've also added new equipment to our Orchard Park playground.  It's on Kelly Road just a couple blocks west of Rt. 41.

As always, we're interested in your comments and suggestions about these civic events we host, as well as everything else connected with running your village and communicating via this newsletter.

This is what our bonfire looks like before Michael Bennett will torch it.  Bennett, local artisan and son of Route 41 Roadhouse owner Mary Bennett, designs this structure every year for us.  When it goes up in flames, sparks shoot their way skyward toward the heavens in an awesome pyrotechnic display. If you're like me and enjoy big fires, this is pretty cool!


How cool is this?  We now have own permanent set of boxes for the game known generically as the bean bag toss.  For my fellow wordsmiths, to get technical, the game is also called cornhole and baggo, with the distance between the boxes suggesting the name difference.  Longer distance suggests the use of cornhole as opposed to baggo.

In doing a little research for this piece, I discovered a rather extensive Wikipedia entry which also noted the existence of the "American Cornhole Association," an organization dedicated to the promotion of the sport which says it's the governing body for cornhole rules and regulations.

Whoda ever thunk it?  So now you know where to go if you want to use our new bean bag field and play by the rules!
