| The 2020 Census Is Here -
Homeowners and residents of the Village of Wadsworth, between March 12th and 20th, 2020, please be on the lookout for your officially mailed invitation to participate in the politically, economically, and socially vital
2020 Census.
And once you receive that important invitation, promptly, accurately, and completely respond to the nine straight-forward questions. The time to respond to this relatively brief survey should be no more than 15 minutes. Furthermore, know, that this year, you can respond to the Census either online, by phone, or by mail.
Once every 10 years, a national count of all of the individuals residing in the United States is mandated by the federal Constitution (that is, Article 1, Section 2), and is conducted by the
U.S. Census Bureau, a nonpartisan governmental agency.
The Village's goal is to have all of our homeowners and residents respond to this legal requirement, in the manner that is most convenient, by April 1, 2020, Census Day in America.
Economically and socially, the information collected from the 2020 Census will provide critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers, and many others will use to provide daily services, products, and support for you and our community.
For example, every year, billions of dollars in federal funding, primarily based on census data, will go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, road projects, and other community resources.
Take due note that consequential decisions based on the results of the 2020 Census will affect our lives and the viability of this community for at least 10 years.
Politically, the results of the 2020 Census will determine the number of seats that Illinois will have in the U.S. House of Representatives, and such results are also used to draw both congressional and state legislative districts.
Our area will lose an estimated $1,000+ per year in federal funds for every individual who does not get counted. The unfortunate impact of uncounted individuals during this census period is
underfunded schools, road projects, libraries, and other essential services.
Accordingly, when you receive your envelope from the U.S. Census Bureau, which will provide you with a special identification number for when you respond online at the designated website,
please make sure that you and ALL of your family members and others in your residence are counted.
Know that any and all of the information that you provide is highly confidential.
Harsh penalties will be implemented upon anyone who divulges this personal information to unauthorized parties. Furthermore, census records cannot be made public for 72 years.
The future, our communal future, is in your hands. Make your presence count. Your participation, combined with that of your neighbors, will significantly impact vital decision-making for the Wadsworth area for many years to come.

Health Department Offers Reduced Well Water Testing Rates -
In observance of National Ground Water Awareness Week, the Lake County Health Department (LCHD) is currently offering a reduced well water testing fee for homeowners who use well water as their primary source of drinking water. Accordingly, between March 9 and March 20, 2020, the normal $18.00 fee for testing for bacteria and nitrates will be reduced to $12.00.
"Approximately 90,000 Lake County residents rely on groundwater to supply their private wells," said Mark Pfister, Executive Director of the LCHD. "We encourage private well owners to do annual water testing and well maintenance to help protect their families from waterborne illness."
Sterile test bottles and sampling instructions are available at Wadsworth Village Hall. To find another location nearest you, please call (847) 377-8020 or click HERE. Water sampling kits can also be mailed for $15.00.
All collected water samples must be brought to the Lake County Central Permit Facility between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The results of tested water samples are usually ready for homeowners in approximately three business days.
Residents also have the option to pay $60.00 to have LCHD staff members visit their homes to collect the samples, inspect the wells, and provide the laboratory analyses for bacteria and nitrates.
For further information on water testing, please contact the LCHD at (847) 377-8020, or send an email to HealthEHS@lakecountyil.gov.
