Support our Veterans-
Wadsworth's own Freedom Farm for Vets is hosting a spring kick-off picnic on Saturday, May 20th.
The Freedom Farm is an outstanding addition to our community and is dedicated to providing a safe haven for our veterans. Last month, the United States Department of Defense recognized the Farm as a Commemorative Partner for its efforts in thanking and honoring Vietnam War vets and their families. It is a very special recognition.
The event, which goes on throughout the afternoon, begins at 12-noon with a 21-gun salute and white rose ceremony to honor those who have served our country and fought for your freedom.
A pig and lamb roast follows with events for families and kids. It promises to be a great day with a chance to have fun and see the farm and its animals.

Easter Egg Hunt-
Our recent annual Easter Egg Hunt was held on a beautiful, warm, sun-kissed day with one of the biggest turnouts of kids ever. 12,000 plastic eggs stuffed with goodies were quickly vacuumed by the excited youngsters. A good time was had by all, including parents and grandparents, and your Village is happy to provide this fun day.

Lecture series-
On Wednesday, April 12, Ms. Eileen Davis from the Lake County Forest Preserve District presented a fantastic seminar on "Landscaping for Wildlife" at the Village Hall that covered topics such as rain and butterfly gardens, native plant selection and maintenance. Discussion took place related to plant material that is native (and not native) to Lake County, plants that are attractive to our declining bee population as well as other strategies to attract and help the many different types of birds in our region.
What can you do to help? The Lake County Forest Preserve District has an informational page on their website that covers this Landscaping for Wildlife topic.
Administrator Amidei noted during the presentation that the Village Hall has Russian Sage and Coreopsis plants adjacent to the building that are just loved by both bumble and honey bees during the warm weather months.

Roses, roses, and more roses-
Wadsworth businesses help support our budget and ability to bring services to you. From time to time we tell you about them and do what we can to promote their products and services. In this newsletter, we tell you about Roses & Roses & Roses, a family-owned business that has been in operation for over thirty-five years.
Owned by Mike and Laurie Dolan, the company is comprised of two parts: retail sales and service.

The store opens this Saturday, April 29th, and Monday through Saturday hours are 10am to 3:30pm. If that doesn't meet your schedule, you can call them at 847-336-1086 to schedule a private appointment. They are there to help you with your selection as well as planting and maintenance advice.
The Dolans also provide rose garden service for Chicago's North Shore, from Lake Bluff going south toward the city. The service is complete care from spring cleanup through fertilizing, pruning, weeding and providing winter protection. All the customer needs to do is enjoy the garden!
