People with cancer are at higher risk of severe COVID-19 infection. To protect your fellow Summit participants and prevent the spread of disease, we're asking all participants to follow these precautions:

Stay home if you’re sick. We encourage you to take a rapid COVID-19 test before you arrive. If you test positive or you're feeling sick, please stay home.

Wear a mask. We encourage all participants to wear masks, regardless of vaccination status. Free masks will be available at the event registration table.

Wash hands and use hand sanitizer. Please wash your hands regularly. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the venue.

Use the color-coded lanyards. You will be able to choose from three different colored name tag lanyards to communicate your social distancing preferences.

Safely enjoy lunch. We're offering boxed lunches to give you the option of eating outside of the ballroom, if you prefer to eat away from the crowd.

Join the National Lung Cancer Roundtable, the American College of Radiology, and the Radiology Health Equity Coalition to promote National Lung Cancer Screening Day on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022.

To participate, screening centers nationwide will open their doors on Saturday, Nov. 12, and allow individuals to access screening without having to take a day off work. By promoting this day, you will be extending screening opportunities to people who may be unaware of this lifesaving, preventative screening option. You will also be increasing awareness of screening within your community.

The President’s Cancer Panel has charged associations, screening centers, and community health advocates with communicating and promoting lung cancer screening. Spread the word to encourage your screening center and other centers to open their doors on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022.

The National LGBT Cancer Network is excited to announce a new program, Cancer Leaders Like Us, to support LGBTQ+ and Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) students and early career professionals in progressing towards leadership in the field of cancer.

Cancer Leaders Like Us is the first ever pipeline diversity initiative to encourage LGBTQ+ and BIPOC students to enter the oncology field. The goals of the program are to create connections, career advancing opportunities, and a knowledge base of resources.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is proud to announce the Improving Routine Vaccination Uptake Through Community Outreach Grant Program. This funding opportunity seeks to empower communities to overcome barriers and promote uptake of routine vaccinations, while reducing health disparities for children, adolescents, and adults. Applications are due October 26, 2022.

Immunize Wisconsin is excited to announce the launch of their grant program with the release of their first Request for Proposals (RFP). Proposals are due by Dec, 16, 2022, and are focused on supporting local efforts to bring education and vaccinations to all people (including children and adults) across Wisconsin. Learn more.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is accepting applications for grants to fund behavioral health workforce training. The training must build provider capacity to deliver mental health and substance use services that respect and respond to the beliefs, practices, and needs of diverse communities.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released the first national Environmental Justice Index, using data from multiple federal agencies to rank the cumulative impacts of environmental injustice on health for every census tract. Areas in Wisconsin with higher scores (indicating higher injustice) include a tract in Adams, Fond du Lac, and Langlade counties, and several tracts in Douglas, Brown, Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and Rock counties.

The George Washington Cancer Center released an updated Liver Cancer Awareness Month Campaign for the month of October. This campaign helps organizations implement evidence-based practices when communicating about viral hepatitis and liver cancer.

The Viral Hepatitis National Progress Report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides ten indicators to assess progress toward achieving key viral hepatitis goals that help in the prevention of viral hepatitis transmission, disease, and associated mortality.

A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released 2020 viral hepatitis surveillance data. Tens of thousands of people are newly infected with viral hepatitis every year in the United States. It is a serious public health threat that kills thousands of Americans annually and is a leading cause of liver cancer.

A new report from the St. Jude HPV Cancer Prevention Program outlines key public policy recommendations based on drivers of vaccination coverage in the United States.

New data from CDC shows in 2021, national vaccination completion for adolescents aged 13-17 years increased 3.1 percentage points for human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine (from 58.6% to 61.7%). However, compared to adolescents living in urban areas, adolescents in rural areas had a 8.8 percentage points lower HPV vaccine series completion. Additionally, decreases in coverage with vaccines for adolescents born in 2008 suggest that the disruptions to medical care during the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in lower coverage for these vaccines. As more adolescents who were due for routine vaccinations during the pandemic age into the National Immunization Survey-Teen sample, the full impact of the pandemic can be assessed.

The National Comprehensive Cancer Network Advisory Committee on COVID-19 Vaccination and Pre-exposure Prophylaxis has updated their recommendations for COVID-19 vaccination. The committee supports the recent approval of bivalent COVID-19 boosters, but cautions they are still awaiting data on bivalent booster effectiveness in immunocompromised people. Additionally, the committee stresses the importance of reducing community spread to help people with cancer who are at higher risk of COVID-19 complications and may have less protection from available vaccines.
