The Women’s Fund of Door County builds, enriches, and nurtures the lives of women and girls through collective wisdom and philanthropy.

Dear Friends,

Thank you to everyone that attended this year’s annual Celebrate Women Luncheon! What a fantastic day focused on women's health, philanthropy, and hope—leaving us motivated and inspired.

Panel Discussion

The day began at MUSE Sturgeon Bay with an engaging panel on “Advocating for Women and Health.”

Moderator Beth Chisholm led a meaningful conversation with panelists Deb Davis, Dr. Elizabeth Gaida, and Tess Johnson. Together, they explored the importance of advocating for our health through regular doctor visits, being mindful of what we put in and on our bodies, and knowing when to seek support from community organizations during a health crisis.

Celebrate Women Luncheon

Following the discussion, a sold-out crowd gathered for the Celebrate Women Luncheon at Stone Harbor. Guests enjoyed browsing and bidding on silent auction items, purchasing raffle tickets, selecting mystery boxes, and taking home the beautiful centerpieces.

This year’s luncheon focused on women’s health and understanding the full spectrum of care—from physical and mental health to wellness and support systems—and ensuring women have access to the resources they need.

Board member Amy Frank welcomed guests and shared about her own breast cancer journey. Amy’s heartfelt and personal message highlighted that each journey looks and feels different. Women’s health is not just about surviving illness—it’s about giving ourselves the best chance to live long, full, and healthy lives.

Grantee Spotlight: Boys and Girls Club of the Bay & Lakes Region

Next, Jennifer Schmidt, Program Support and Training Specialist for the Boys and Girls Club of the Bay & Lakes Region, highlighted the STEAM for Girls of the Future Program—an award-winning summer initiative funded by a Women’s Fund of Door County Community Grant.

This hands-on program introduced girls to drone programming and artificial intelligence through age-appropriate activities. Younger participants (ages 8–10) explored foundational technology, while tweens tackled more advanced challenges. Jennifer shared inspiring stories of how these experiences sparked confidence and helped participants envision futures in STEAM fields.

Keynote Address: Choose Hope Over Fear

After a wonderful lunch, keynote speaker Christine Handy took the stage to share her powerful journey. Following a series of medical diagnoses, she discovered a life beyond material objects and outward appearance and found that genuine beauty and purpose come from within.

To close the event, our exceptional emcee, Marti Spittell Ziegelbauer, reminded us of the ongoing importance of supporting women and girls in our community.
