The Women’s Fund of Door County builds, enriches, and nurtures the lives of women and girls through collective wisdom and philanthropy.

Dear Friends,

Happy Holidays from the Women’s Fund of Door County!

In this season of thanks, we wanted to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support of women and girls in Door County.

Because of your generosity, the Women’s Fund of Door County granted more than $245,000 in 2025!

From meeting basic needs to encouraging women and girls to dream big, the Women’s Fund of Door County is proud to make a difference in the lives of women and girls in Door County.

We have exciting things in store for 2026 and can’t wait to continue to work together so that “when she thrives, we all prosper.”

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season!

Sincerely,

Fall Grant Recipients

The Women’s Fund of Door County is proud to support the following programs as part of our fall grant cycle.

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin: Youth Mentoring for Girls

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin will positively impact more than 70 Door County girls through one-to-one mentoring – helping build confidence, improve emotional well-being, and pursue bright futures through a well-researched, high-impact support intervention.

  • Crossroads at Big Creek Inc.: Jennifer Stevens Indigenous Pottery Presentation
In November, Crossroads at Big Creek will offer two free hands-on school workshops and one free community workshop with Oneida potter Jennifer Stevens, an expert in Oneida prehistoric Indigenous pottery – helping deepen the cultural education and appreciation of Wisconsin's diverse history.

  • Doorway to Learning: Outdoor Playground and Educational Space
Doorway to Learning, a vital childcare center located in Sturgeon Bay, will start upgrading their playground with two "turtle top" sandboxes, which will help develop sensory exploration, mathematical learning, scientific concepts, language development, social skills, and creativity in young children.

  • HELP of Door County Inc.: Basic Needs
HELP of Door County will help provide basic needs for clients fleeing dangerous relationships, who often arrive with just the clothes on their backs. Funding will help purchase: gift cards for hygiene and household needs, emergency grocery support, emergency transportation support, and clothing in a range of sizes.

  • Midsummer's Music Ltd.: Music Activities for Women and Girls
Midsummer’s Music’s Griffon String Quartet will provide music lessons to underserved populations through a partnership with the YMCA of Door County, Boys and Girls Club and MUSE, as well as offer school workshops throughout Door County.

  • Northern Sky Theater: NOVA Program Initiative 2026
NOVA, a program of Northern Sky Theater, nurtures emerging playwrights and composers, especially women, through original storytelling rooted in Door County. In 2025, all seven new works scheduled for readings or workshops were authored by women. This grant supports its continued growth as a hub for inclusive theatrical creation.
