The Women’s Fund of Door County builds, enriches, and nurtures the lives of women and girls through collective wisdom and philanthropy.
12th Annual Celebrate Women! Luncheon
Stone Harbor, gorgeous flowers, chic purses, and a moving keynote address! Hilary Pennington, captivated luncheon attendees discussing three things she’s passionate about: philanthropy, Door County, and women’s leadership. Her life and work in philanthropy have taken her around the globe including advising United States presidents, serving the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and co-founding Jobs for the Future. Hilary currently works for the Ford Foundation where she ensures strategic, meaningful, and well-aligned global grantmaking.
Hilary appeared at a joint event with Write On, Door County in Juddville the night before the luncheon. At both events, Hilary praised the Women’s Fund for their work collaborating with NWTC on Invest Dream Achieve. The approach of the Women’s Fund of Door County to address long-standing needs and challenges in our community is what provides social capital – “value beyond the grant” itself. Women’s funds represent groups of women coming together to build societies in which they and their children can thrive. Hilary inspired attendees, many of whom made additional generous donations to the Women’s Fund.

Grantee Spotlight: HELP of Door County
Our largest spring grant was to HELP of Door County for their Transitional Living Program. This program takes a holistic approach that provides financial, emotional, life skills and ongoing supportive services for those leaving abusive relationships as they seek success in independent living. Key features include individualized case plans, client responsibilities to remain in the program and a support group.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. HELP will hold their annual walk on Oct. 6th. It includes the presentation of the Anne Kok Social Justice Award. Last year's recipient was our own Jennifer Moeller. For more details see flyer below.
