Sailing Awards
What an awesome summer it has been for all of the sailors here at the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor. Our sailors have represented their team and club in several different races.
Lead by
Billy Martin,
Lauren Rutt, and
Rence Helmick, our small race team was very mighty on race day. Our 4 person race team had 12 first place finishes in MAYRA events.
Garret and
Justin Roach competed in a Regatta in Baltimore this summer with racers from all over the globe and finished a respectable 18th. The Roach boys also finished 2nd at Junior Olympics to add to the 3rd
place finish of
Amanda Foster. These racers are the example we hope to set forth as we grow this team to continually represent YCSH in MAYRA events and beyond.
Amanda Foster was presented the Steve & Dob Mehl Award. This award is presented to the junior sailor who raced in the most MAYRA regattas this year. Amanda represented the club in the Sunfish boat class. In addition to finishing in 1st in 7 MAYRA regattas this year, Amanda finished 3rd in Junior Olympics competition.
Anna Croasdale was presented the Betty Church Spirit Award. This award represents a sailor that is passionate, hardworking, and fosters good sportsmanship. Anna juggled other commitments, but still found time in her busy schedule to compete in 4 of 7 regattas. She finished as high as 5th in a very large and competitive boat class.
Hudson Hague was presented the Karl G. Eldemayer Optimist Award. This award is presented to the winner of our YAP in house races held on Fridays during camp. Hudson took an active role to get better at all aspects of racing during camp, and even competed in his first Green Fleet race during the YCSH regatta. We look forward to Hudson joining the race team in the future.
Congratulations to all!

WriteOn Writing Club
WriteOn had several meetings this summer with writers sharing readings from Blog postings, a novel in process, poems and lyrics for songs. Our next scheduled meeting is Thursday, August 17th at 11am.
Next year's Commodore Tim Clay encouraged us to continue next year so this meeting will be a planning session in addition to the normal sharing of writing and critiquing. We always welcome critics in addition to authors so please join us if you enjoy helping aspiring authors improve their work.
If you have always wanted to publish your memoirs or other writings for your family and friends, you might want to attend The BookBaby Independent Authors Conference from Friday November 3 to Sunday November 5th at the Sonesta Hotel, 1800 Market Street, Philadelphia PA 19103.
We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday August 17th at 11am. Keep on writing.
