A Word from the Director
Hello Chamber Members!
I am in the new office at 321 N. Main Street, Suite 300 ~ with so many boxes to go through, getting things set up and meeting new neighbors, it has been very exciting and exhausting at the same time! 60 years of Chamber documentation and information, along with many event supplies were boxed up and I am excited to share with you the history of how the DeForest Development Corporation (circa 1963) has become the DeForest Windsor Area Chamber of Commerce!
The month of September has been proclaimed by Governor Evers as Chamber of Commerce Month and we are thrilled to share why we are so proud to represent our local businesses and why it it so important to shop and support our local businesses!

Holiday Passport is Back!

The DeForest Windsor Area Chamber has partnered with Dane Buy Local again for our 3rd year with the Dane County Holiday Passport!
The program will be running from November 1 to December 17, 2023.
It's a customer-centric promotion designed to reward both new and returning customers for supporting local businesses.
Here's how it works for participants:
1. Download a passport
2. Make a purchase
3. Enter the drawings
Bonus entry: your customers' entries count twice in the weekly drawing for these dates:
1. November 25 - Small Business Saturday
2. December 1-3 Cambridge Christmas
As a participating business, you stand to gain numerous benefits from the Dane County Holiday Passport 2023:

The DeForest Windsor Area Chamber, in partnership with the Village of Windsor, presents WindsorFest, an annual event that celebrates the community and the strong agricultural history of the area. It is a terrific community event to enjoy a day of free family activities, delicious food and live music! It truly is fun for the whole family. It is also a wonderful opportunity for your business or organization to show your support of the community and Chamber and receive recognition for your generosity!

The DeForest Community Development Authority partners with Settlers best Credit Union and Heartland Credit Union in exciting new funding program for downtown DeForest businesses and commercial property!
In partnership with Settlers best Credit Union and Heartland Credit Union, the CDA is providing low-interest loans and grants to help eligible applicants with exterior building improvements, structural work, building systems components and more.

The DeForest Area Historical Society
is Cleaning up the Depot!
|
The DeForest Area Historical Society is organizing the Depot to create another site to visit and see the history of the Depot and how important it was in the growth of DeForest!
Assistance is needed in moving some of the large historical pieces and setting up the Depot as part of a walking tour from the Library, to the Lyster House, to the Depot to the Hanson-Bennett-Newell Museum.

Supporting markets provides a platform for our local farmers and producers to sell their fresh, seasonal produce and products directly to customers.
Typically, produce is harvested shortly before being sold, ensuring its freshness and nutritional value.
A Farmers Market creates a sense of community by bringing people together.
Cultural diversity, farmers markets often showcase products from different cultural backgrounds, promoting diversity in food choices and culinary experience.

DeForest Police Department Public Safety Night
Tuesday, September 12th from 5:00-7:00pm
|
The DeForest Police Department will be hosting it's 13th DeForest Public Safety Family Fun Night. The event will take place at DeForest Fireman's Park on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This event will be held in conjunction with the DeForest Farmers Market.
DeForest Public Safety Family Fun Night is an opportunity for the DeForest community to promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention, and neighborhood camaraderie.
This year’s festivities will include free food (while supplies last), raffle prizes, crime prevention information, children’s games/activities, and other exhibits from the DeForest Police Department. This event will include participation from the DeForest Police Department, DeForest Windsor Fire Department and EMS, and other local law enforcement agencies.
Citizens will be able to tour squad cars, fire apparatus, and ambulances. Visitors will also have a chance to meet and talk with Officers, Firefighters, and EMTS.
Get the kids out from in front of the TV and bring your family for a night of FREE family fun, food, and safety!
The DeForest Police Department is accepting donations for this family event for food and prizes. Please contact Sergeant Shawn Schaefer at the DeForest Police Department if interested in making a monetary or raffle prize donation.

DeForest Area Public Library Fall Harvest Festival
Saturday, September 16th, from 10am to 12pm

Celebrate the arrival of autumn with an outdoor festival at the Library. Join us for a special story time at 10:30, polka on the patio, crafts for kids and adults, treats, games, juggling, music, and even a farm animal petting zoo. Plus you're encouraged to visit the Friends of the DAPL's Fall Book Sale in the Library's Lower Level.

Friends of the Yahara River Headwaters
Fall River Clean Up
Saturday, September 23rd from 10am -1pm
|

The Friends of the Yahara River Headwaters is holding our annual Fall river clean-up on 9.23.23 at 10:00am. Please join us in cleaning the river by getting in the water to help out for a few hours. Waders will be provided if you don't have your own. We will break down into multiple crews and clean selected portions of our river. The more people that come the more we can clean and the healthier our river will be. Its great fun, conservation, and conversation! Refreshments are provided!
