Waypoint Helps Community Members with Long-Term Derecho Recovery Needs
Throughout 2020, the Community Foundation has been collaborating with donors, funders and nonprofits to respond to the pandemic and derecho. A new program called Providing Assistance to Community Homeowners (PATCH) brings several groups together to make damaged homes habitable ahead of the winter months.

Cedar Grove Signature Fund Makes First Grants
In 2020, a local family established the Cedar Grove Signature Fund with the goal of supporting the nonprofits that impact the quality of life in Cedar Rapids. In December, the Fund made its first grants, distributing more than $305,000 to nine local organizations.

Grant Opportunities Adjusted in 2021
Applications are now being accepted for the first grant cycle of 2021. Because of changes to several grant programs, earlier this week the Community Foundation hosted a virtual Nonprofit Know-How: 2021 Grants at the Community Foundation for local grant writers. Applications will be accepted through Friday, February 12, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. CST.

New Board of Directors Officers and Members Appointed
In December, the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors thanked three exiting members for their years of service and welcomed four new board members. The Board is also being led by a new group of officers, including Board Chair Charlie Schimberg.
