Grants Help Preserve the History of Troy Mills
Like many communities in Iowa and throughout the U.S., Troy Mills’ history includes a tie to the International Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF). The fraternity promoted philanthropy and friendship, and each chapter had a meeting hall. When the Troy Mills chapter disbanded in 1989, a group of volunteers stepped in to preserve the hall as a community space. Now, they’re taking on the task of preserving the community’s history itself.
