Before becoming an author, Wendy worked in the nonprofit sector most recently as a Chief Development Officer and she is a member of the AFP San Diego Chapter.

Create and Elevate Your Nonprofit's Annual Report
Last month, your local AFP chapter hosted an informative meeting with Verdin Marketing on creating annual reports. We engaged in insightful discussions on crafting impactful annual reports while enjoying a delicious boxed lunch made for us by Chef's Table Catering. Mary Verdin and Riley Grim shared their expertise on various aspects of creating an annual report, including defining and breaking down audience groups, determining messaging, and storytelling through visuals and text. They emphasized the importance of showcasing the impact of an organization through success stories and testimonials, as well as providing financial health checkups and a donor list. An interesting tip they mentioned was mailing the reports to donors with a personalized note, like a sticky note attached.
There were MANY more tips and tricks (including a crash course in using Canva!), and we all walked away feeling a little more prepared to roll up our sleeves and write those annual reports!
As members of AFP, it is important to continue learning from industry experts such as Verdin Marketing to stay on top of best practices in our field. We thank Mary for her time and Cuesta College for hosting us!
