Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada raises funds to provide vital services and programs for the brain tumour community. We also lead research into the cause of and cure for this devastating disease through a variety of funding opportunities including the Brain Tumour Research Studentships. These awards provide students opportunities to gain experience in brain tumour research and its research methods.

2023 Brain Tumour Research Fellowship


Our Brain Tumour Research Fellowship encourages and enables young clinicians and scientists to enter the field of brain tumour research and accelerate studies leading to a cure for brain tumours.

We are seeking outstanding young brain tumour researchers to continue the Research Fellowship, with studies conducted in Canada. Applications will be considered for adult and pediatric Basic, Clinical or Translational Research.

Project Update

Understanding social competencies in pediatric brain tumour survivors

"During this second summer stage, I had the opportunity to work on different projects involving brain tumour survivors, but my principal focus was on the “ADOS project”. The project is still ongoing since there is a phase 2 that extends 6 months after phase 1 with an anticipation of a total of two years for study completion. The aim of this study is to evaluate and understand the relationship between cognitive functioning, emotion recognition and social behaviours among pediatric brain tumour survivors compared to a control group of children who have not been diagnosed with a brain tumour."

The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) today announced a new partnership with Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada (BTFC) to accelerate brain tumor research. Through this partnership, BTFC will invest in the ABTA research program to co-fund a research project in Canada, focused on improving resection for low-grade glioma.
