An Important Mask Update from Pastor Jon-Marc MacLean

Pastor Jon-Marc has recorded a special update on mask requirements at Hope Lutheran Church. Click the video above to watch, or find it on our Facebook page at facebook.com/HopeLutheranVillages

There have also been a few changes to service. You may notice that the tape has been removed from the pews at all campuses. All rows of pews are now open. At the Saturday 6:00pm service, section 4 will be closed to allow space between the masked section and the general section.

Additionally, we are seeking volunteers to help distribute communion. If you would like to volunteer, contact the office by calling (352) 750-2321.

Wednesday Evening Prayer Continues….

Even though summer is upon us, we continue to offer Evening Prayer, or Vespers, each Wednesday at 6:00pm in the sanctuary at Hope Central Campus. This 20-minute informal prayer service is the perfect way to end your day. Join us as we sing together, chant together, and pray together.

If you attend our Social Suppers at 5:00pm, stop in after you have finished your dinner and end your evening in peaceful prayer. If you'd like to come only for Evening Prayer, the front doors of the sanctuary will also be open.

Blessings on your summer, and come pray with us!

A Thank You and Update From Hope Lake Weir Campus

Rick Schaaf and the people of Hope would like to sincerely thank everyone who dedicated long hours to cleaning, pressure washing, and organizing the storage sheds at Hope Lake Weir Campus in very hot conditions. It was hard work and very appreciated!

Additionally, we would like to thank everyone who supported our Boy Scout Troop at Hope Lake Weir Campus over the years. The Troop chose to disband and allocate much of their supplies to other Troops in need.

We would like to thank Phyllis Dill for arranging the donation of supplies. Six local Troops received donations of supplies, including Troop 244 Lady Lake, Troop 143 Fruitland Park Methodist Church, Troop 4143 Community United Methodist Church Fruitland Park, Pack 143 Community United Methodist Church Fruitland Park, and Pack 441 Methodist Church of Belleview. Our former Troop also donated school supplies to Weirsdale Elementary School and gave a cash donation to Angel’s Sanctuary and Animal Rescue.

What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry.jpg

Stephen Ministry is a complete ministry system used by over 13,000 congregations worldwide to provide high-quality care and outreach to hurting people in the church and the community.

Through Stephen Ministry, congregations train a team of Stephen Ministers—lay members who have been equipped to provide one-to-one emotional and spiritual care in difficult times.

Each Stephen Minister is matched with a hurting person and meets weekly with that person to listen, care, pray, and encourage, for as long as the need exists.

Stephen Ministers care for those dealing with grief, divorce, job loss, medical crises, financial struggles, and many other life challenges.

To learn more about this caring ministry contact Pastor Bob Knepel at (352) 445-8216 or Kathy Smith at (352) 399-5103.

Service Opportunity from Shepherd's Lighthouse

WE ARE GOD'S HANDS IN THIS WORLD. CAN YOU HELP?

Shepherd's Lighthouse, located at 5930 SE Robinson Road in Belleview, is a nonprofit organization helping homeless mothers and their children (birth through 9 years old) with transitional housing and practical programs that will help them to gain independence.

Current needs include:

  • A Board member or two with grant writing and/or fundraising experience. To find out more or to complete an application, please contact Executive Director Yolanda East at (352) 347-6575.
  • Volunteers to help staff the Shepherd's Lighthouse Thrift Store that is open Monday - Friday from 10:00am to 2:00pm. In addition, donations for the Store are welcome during store hours. Please contact Yolanda East at the above number.

The Rock and a Sock: A Love Story

Since we have many received new members to Hope, and because our volunteers have not been allowed in the school due to COVID-19, we have not shared a Love Story from The Rock in over a year. Here is a great story from our pre-COVID days:

A young girl came to The Rock in need of extra food for her family. She obviously needed new shoes, too. She was very happy when we helped her pick out a new pair, but her joy turned to dread when we asked her to try them on. She said that she changed her mind and didn’t want them. Sensing that she was embarrassed by her holey socks, we suggested that she try them on at home and bring them back if they didn’t fit. We also put 3 pairs of socks in her bag.

When volunteers went to The Rock before Christmas Break, we found pink thank you notes all over. The one that caught my eye simply said, “Thank you for the socks”

Rock Update – Volunteers Needed?

Last school year, a small number of volunteers shopped and stocked shelves for The Rock. Because of Covid, volunteers were not permitted to interact with the learners. A school employee was able to keep The Rock open most days and we continued to provide food, clothing, shoes, hygiene products and school supplies to about 100 students per week. However, we were not able to provide the most important thing we offer - the love of Christ!

What will happen this year? School starts August 10th. The School Board meets on July 27th and on that date will decide if we will be allowed to have Hope volunteers staff The Rock.

If the answer is yes, we will only have a week to line up and schedule volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to help the learners shop and share Christ’s love, please send an email to [email protected]. There is going to be a new principal at the school this year, but I assume that we will keep the same schedule. Can you help on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 11:00am to 1:00pm?

Please contact Fred O’Brien at (352) 250-3814 if you have questions.

Love INC _2_.jpg

New Opportunity from Love INC

On Tuesday, July 13th, Love INC is embarking on a fantastic journey in a Transformational Ministry (life skills) courses and would LOVE for you to come along.

Over a 12 week period you will learn how to heal past hurts, learn about who you are in Christ, learn to dream again or for the first time, and set goals to attain those dreams. This course also has homework. While it is not a lot of work, it is required for the next week’s class and success.

This course will be life changing if you choose to make the commitment to Affirming Potential. Affirming Potential is all about making you ALL you were created to be. It is a 12 week course and attendance is important. After all, we all want to be successful. When I took this course two years ago, it really made me think and helped me to make goals to attain my dreams.

Check out a preview of the class by watching a short video by clicking here.

If you are interested in joining us on this journey, please let us know so we can have the materials ready for you. The class will take place at Tri County Baptist Church in Lady Lake at 5:30pm on Tuesday nights. Dinner and childcare are provided at the classes. Reply to this email, or call (352) 245-8774 to sign up!

We will continue offering our one-week classes with a variety of topics for those who are not interested in making the 12 week commitment.
