Community Choral Reading Session

July 29th at 6:00pm - Hope Lake Weir Campus

1802957.jpg

Our first Choral Reading Session of the summer was a great success! We're looking forward to hosting two more, and we want YOU to come sing with us.

The next Community Choral Reading Session will be on Thursday, July 29th at 6:00pm at Hope Lake Weir Campus. Hope Lake Weir Campus is located at 10495 SE Sunset Harbor Road, Summerfield, FL.

If you like singing in choir, winning door prizes, and enjoying lots of dessert, come out and join the fun! There's no obligation beyond simply gathering together with other musicians for a fun evening in a beautiful space. All music is provided.

The Choral Reading Session is open to anyone in the surrounding community. You do NOT need to be a member of Hope! Invite your friends and other singers you know to join you.

This event is for adults only. No childcare will be provided. Hope Lake Weir Campus is located in Summerfield and is not golf cart accessible.

If you can't join us this time, make sure to mark your calendar for our third and final event on September 1st. Our third Choral Reading Session will be an outdoor sing-fest held at our new Hope Lutheran property in the Southern Villages, on Meggison Road.

We can't wait to sing with you on July 29th at Hope Lake Weir Campus!

Hope Lake Weir Campus Food Pantry

Back-To-School Shoe Drive

Screen Shot 2021-07-20 at 6.31.36 PM.png

Our Food Pantry is asking for monetary donations to provide back-to-school shoes for the children who frequent the pantry with their families!

Shoes are a necessity for all children heading back to school. But for those children who frequent our Food Pantry, school shoes are often a huge financial burden. We are hoping to provide many pairs of shoes for our local kids through our Food Pantry Back-to-School Shoe Drive! If you are interested in helping, please submit an offering with "Shoe Drive" listed clearly on the check or envelope. Gifts of any amount are greatly appreciated as we assist these deserving kids.

Thank you for your generous support! Your donations of food and money make a difference for people like Betty* who visit our Food Pantry.

Betty is a grandmother who provides housing for 8 people. She lives with her disabled husband, as well as her disabled son and two daughters. She is also the grandmother of 3 children; one 3-year-old, one 14-month-old granddaughter who is severely disabled, and a severely autistic 3-year-old grandson.

Betty's grandchildren require care at Shands Hospital two times per week. Betty herself has gone without health care for 8 years as she struggles to provide care for her children and grandchildren. Her current rent is $1300 a month, but she is grateful to have a home large enough to shelter her family. Our Food Pantry has helped Betty with gas money on occasion, as well as with food for her and her loved ones.

Betty tries to stay upbeat and often says, “We are always so thankful for your help, and we will make it." Her positive outlook even in difficult circumstances is a testimony to Christ's love and to the work of our Food Pantry volunteers.

Lutheran World Relief School Kits

WOH.png

Each year, the Women of Hope assemble 80 school kits for children in need, with specific and exact items collected for each bag. This ensures that each recipient receives uniform items that are useful to their situation.

This is a program for Lutheran World Relief, a ministry of U.S. Lutheran, serving communities living in poverty overseas.

Interested in helping support Women of Hope as they pack these school kits? You can help by purchasing the items listed below and dropping them in the basket located in the Information Hallway at Hope Central Campus marked SCHOOL KITS.

If you plan to shop, note that the Florida Tax Free Weekend is July 31st - August 9th.

Education is one of the strongest tools a community has for breaking the cycle of poverty. Ensuring that children attend school, especially in places where their access is de-prioritized, has even stronger results. School kits contain essential supplies to help children – and in some cases, adults – continue in the face of serious obstacles. That learning leads to a better life for them, their families, and their communities.

The items in each bag are:

  • Four 70-80 sheet notebooks
  • Wide or college ruled paper (NO loose leaf paper)
  • One 30-centimeter ruler, or a ruler with centimeters on one side and inches on the other
  • One pencil sharpener
  • One pair of blunt scissors
  • Five unsharpened #2 pencils with erasers, secure together with a rubber band
  • Five black or blue ballpoint pens (no gel ink) secure together with a rubber band
  • One box of 16 or 24 crayons
  • One 2 ½ inch eraser

Please note that these items should not have religious symbols or messages on them.

Hope's Six-Month Financial Summary

As we are now in July, it's time to review Hope's financial summary for the first six months of the year. Treasurer Gary Hill has assembled the necessary financial information for your convenience.

Click HERE to access the summary.

As you will see, we have had a very positive first six months, with our giving returning to our 2019 level, and our expenses remaining close to the reduced 2020 pandemic level.

The excess of revenue over expenses of $229,831, along with the forgiveness of the SBA loan of $223,706 in January, totals an excess of revenue over expenses in the General (operating) Fund of $453,537 for the first six months of the year.

It's time to help our deserving students go back to school in style!

Clothe-A-Kid, a program from our friends at Love INC, helps provide back-to-school clothes for local children in need. This year, the emphasis will be on helping the people that are trying to help themselves.

Clothe-A-Kid is a relational program that provides families with a loving experience as they shop for back to school clothes. For those who are interested in supporting these deserving kids and their families, there are two ways to get involved.

Volunteer to Shop with a Family

Volunteers are paired with a family to help them select the clothing and shoes (following school guidelines) needed. Volunteers also help track the spending of the family while showing the love of Christ to them. This program is only limited by the number of volunteers we have to shop with families. We need you to meet the needs of your community's kids!

Shop at Kohl's in The Villages on Tuesday, August 3rd and Thursday, August 5th

To register, please click here.

Sponsor an Individual Kid or a Family

Sponsors donate $240, $60, or any amount (helping kids shop) and the family gives $10 (securing their spot). The total, per kid, is used to shop at Kohl's for clothing or shoes for back to school.

  • Comp T4M (Fully engaged in life change) - $240 per kid
  • TM (Getting to know you program) - $60 per kid

Donate Kohl's Gift Cards, check, or cash via mail to: Love INC,15797S. Hwy 441, Summerfield, FL 34491.
