...that the 30th FinnFunn Weekend will take place October 28-30 in Troy, New Hampshire?
All are invited to the Finnish cultural and heritage event organized by members of the Cape Ann Finns, Finnish American Heritage Society of Canterbury, Finnish-American Society of Cape Cod and Finnish Center at Saima Park.
FinnFunn Weekend takes place at The Inn at East Hill Farm, and features presentations, workshops, music, sauna, tori, food and, of course, fun.

Greetings!
Autumn is an exciting time of year for Finlandia Foundation, as we see much activity at the chapter level as well as within our national organization.
Our virtual programming is picking up. Last week we were pleased to cooperate with CMI-Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation and S uomi-Seura on a very well-attended webinar related to Finland joining NATO. This Thursday we welcome a new concert from Finland by our friends Jussi Makkonen and Nazig Azezian.
The FFN Young Leaders Board is involved with the Finnish Embassy and the new Young Leaders Forum, and last week participated in an event in Washington, D.C.
FFN trustees are busy with their committee work, planning for our upcoming programs. Those will be confirmed at our board meeting in New York City in October, which will be held in conjunction with the Joint Chapter Meeting. We're looking forward to meeting with representatives of a good percentage of our affiliated organizations.
There's much more in the works as we look forward to 2023 and the 70th anniversary of Finlandia Foundation. With your support, we will continue to champion Finnish America and Finnish culture in the U.S.

NATO & Finland Webinar on YouTube

The September 14 webinar, "How will NATO membership affect Finland's work for peace?" is online for viewing at the FFN YouTube channel.
This webinar looks at Finland's future as a member of NATO
and how that will relate to the country's efforts in peacemaking.
Suomi-Seura and Finlandia Foundation National, the event featured CMI CEO Dr. Janne Taalas and Antti Ämmälä, head of CMI Communications. It was followed by a Q & A session, which is included in the video (click button at left).

Young Leaders Forum Meets in D.C. |

The Embassy of Finland conducted an in-person event for students and young professionals in Washington, D.C. on September 15.
The Young Leaders Forum was an opportunity to socialize and network prior to a discussion about Finland's decision to join NATO.
Following that panel, which included FFN Young Leaders Board member Tommy Flanagan (with microphone, above), Ambassador Mikko Hautala invited Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark to speak about the role of technology and the growing importance of cybersecurity in a digital world.

Do you know of a good speaker with a presentation related to Finnish America or Finland?
FFN invites recommendations and applications for its 2023 Lecturer of the Year; application deadline is October 1.
The LOY will travel to present the program to FFN chapters across the U.S. between January 1 and December 31.

Eleanor Ostman (below left) and Soile Anderson are wrapping up their "Meet the Finn Cooks" cooking demonstration. Past LOY topics have featured Sibelius, the Saarinens and architecture, Finnish log construction, folkways and music.
FFN provides a travel stipend and host chapters offer an honorarium to the visiting LOY.

Cellist Jussi Makkonen and pianist Nazig Azezian present a new concert for Finlandia Foundation, "At Koli – in the Footsteps of Jean Sibelius."
The performance was filmed in Koli National Park in North Karelia, Finland, on the roof of Break Sokos Hotel Koli. It will premiere on September 22 on the FFN YouTube channel.
