Listening Groups in August
As a means of gathering current information about the life of your congregation, every member is invited and encouraged to participate in a Listening Group interview session. These Listening Group sessions will be facilitated by our two consultants, Rev. Don Harvey and Rev. Dr. Chris Gambill. In the groups, participants will be asked a series of open-ended questions by the consultants and given the opportunity to share their answers within the small group context. A Listening Group is not a group discussion; it is an opportunity for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings with the consultants and to listen as others share theirs. Sessions will last approximately one hour. The consultants will compile and analyze the responses in a confidential, anonymous manner and report their findings to the congregation at a special meeting called for that purpose.
Listening Group sessions have been scheduled for three days in August: Sunday afternoon and evening on August 16; Monday, August 17, in the morning, afternoon, or evening; and Tuesday, August 18 in the afternoon, if the number of participants warrants it. Sign-up sheets will be posted outside the church office on the wood box, and you are asked to choose one of the available time slots and write your name on a blank line. You may choose your group. Please note that each group is limited to a maximum of 10 persons. Please note your group’s time and be present at the church a few minutes before the scheduled starting time.
Thank you for considering this an essential component in our journey through the transition and for making it a priority to participate as you are able.
