A Look Back!
Manager's Conference!
The Mangers Conference took place this past September and it was a success! It began with a meeting discussing the past year and how successful we have been. The day continued as the group began to discuss future plans and what Matcom needs to continue to be an industry leader. To break up the day, all of the Managers were bused down to Black Creek Pioneer Village to tackle a team building exercise "The Escape Village". Although not every team managed to escape, it was highly competitive and everyone had a few laughs. It was a great day all around and more importantly a learning experience for how our company can continue to grow and prosper.
This past October a few members of the Matcom family traveled to Portland, Oregon, for a few days to look at a Lift & Move USA event held by Nesscampbell. The event is meant to educate youth on careers within the trades industry. Specifically tailoring the trades positions to companies like Matcom. Fixing the Manufacturing Skills Gap!
It is a common concern among those in the manufacturing and trades industry that workers are in high demand. A few decades ago young people grew up learning how to use basic hand-tools and to troubleshoot and repair basic home and auto breakdowns. Young people today have none of these skills and are much more focused on technology. Learn more about this trend by reading a Forbes article below!
