Matcom Gives Back
Submit Your Charity Ideas
At Matcom, we are always looking for ways to give back to our community.

Our most recent charity suggestion was brought to us by Wayne Caicco. This initiative is in support of the Jordan Foundation Toy Drive. Matcom is more than happy to show our support this winter!

Family Fun Day 2019
For this year's Family Fun Day, we will be attending a Toronto Argonauts game on September 28th at BMO field!

Please fill out the Survey Monkey questionnaire below to confirm your attendance. Each Matcom employee is invited to bring their children and 1 adult guest.

If your survey link doesn't work or the amount of guests you are bringing changes, don't worry! Simply contact Alexander McCleave or Pina Mucci to notify them of any changes.
It being family day, Matcom would like to inform everyone that this is a non-alcoholic event!
Submissions must be in by no later than September 6th. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Elevation Athletics Charity
Matcom was proud to sponsor Elevation Athletics annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament. This event encourages kids to put down their computers/phones and to get outside to play. The day was filled with great weather and smiles all around!

Jersey Day Fridays in August
Every Friday for the month of August was Jersey Day! For a donation of $2.50 per day or $10.00 for the month, staff were invited to wear jerseys each Friday in support of the Richmond Hill Stars. We raised a total of $100.00 for the team! Matcom will be matching this donation! Thank you to everyone who participated.
Camouflage Fridays!

For the Month of September every Friday we will be wearing Camouflage attire! Please donate $2.50 every Friday or $10.00 for the entire month! All proceeds will be going to Wounded Warriors a charity suggested by Gareth Haynes! Any donation is appreciated big or small. Please give your donations to Alexander McCleave.

So everyone bring out your camo gear and support!

Volleyball for Sick Kids
Matcom is interested in starting a volleyball team in support of SickKids Heatwave charity event. If you are interested in joining please send Alexander McCleave an email. The event is on September 28th starting at 9:00am and goes to roughly 2:30pm!

Please take into account this is the same day as family fun day! The Argo's game starts at 7:00pm. Please plan accordingly if you wish to do both.

The first 10 people to register will be put on a team to compete for Matcom!

Prevention of Slips, Trips, and Falls

Slips  happen when there is too little friction or traction between the footwear and the walking surface. 

Trips  happen when your foot collides with an object causing you to lose your balance and fall.

Oakville millwright to compete in World Skills Competition in Russia
Twenty-two-year-old Oakvillian millwright Jake Doan will be representing  Canada  in the 45th WorldSkills Competition in Kazan, Russia this August! 

According to Jake, being a successful  millwright requires attention to detail, mechanical knowledge, high precision ability, communication, dedication, and hard work.
β€œI hope to gain experience and challenge myself during the WorldSkills competition in Russia … and learn about the work requirements of a millwright around the world and how it differs from Canada,” said Doan,
Last year, BigRep revealed the first ever fully 3D-printed e-motorbike!

All parts of the bike - excluding the electrical components - are 3D-printed, including the rims, frame, tires, fork, and seat.

Smoke, heat detectors needed in garages, York Region fire safety officers say

Despite major efforts to improve fire safety in Ontario β€” including requiring smoke detectors in bedrooms, every level of the house, and even insisting that all new builds have strobe lights for the hearing impaired β€” there is no requirement in Ontario's fire safety code that garages also contain smoke detectors.
