Breakbulk Americas 2019 !

This was the first time that Matcom has had the pleasure of exhibiting at the Breakbulk Americas. It was a massive success! Matcom managed to break into some new markets and meet with some industry leaders south of the border!

Everyone is encouraged to donate to the Movember fund being collected by Alexander McCleave.

For the month of November everyone is encouraged to grow a mustache! This helps to raise awareness with regards to prostate cancer. Please follow the link to learn more.

Christmas Card Competition Begins!
November 1st the annual Christmas card competition begins! Please encourage your children or grandchildren to participate in this years Christmas card competition! The winner will have their Christmas card promptly displayed and will win 40 dollars in toonies!

Toy Drive!
This December Matcom will be supporting the Jordan Foundation Toy Drive. A big box will be placed by reception for Brand New Toy donations. The box will be setup for November 1st .

The Matcom family raised $280.00 ! A special thanks goes to Natasha Lewis. Natasha won last months challenge of finding the most digital documents with old logos. She chose Wounded Warriors as her designated charity.

Stay in the Know: Health and Safety
Inspection Blitz to Support New and Young Worker Safety
The Ontario Government is working with employers to keep new and young workers safe by launching targeted inspections focused on the safety of summer students.

The inspections follow months of outreach to businesses by the Ministry of Labour to educate and assist them in creating safe workplaces. 

"New workers are three times more likely to be injured during their first month on the job," said Minister of Labour Monte McNaughton.

Windsor Plywood donation finishes VIU trades centre
Vancouver Island University’s trades building at its Nanaimo campus will now be called the Windsor Plywood Trades Discovery Centre after a hefty donation from the company’s foundation.
“The Windsor Plywood Foundation is eager to give back to the communities we live and do business in,” said Cathy Brown of the foundation. “The culture of giving runs deep at Windsor Plywood. We believe it is important to support our communities where we can, with the transformative role education plays in the lives of so many VIU students.”
Amazon raising the stakes!
The most recent move by Amazon came last week, when it announced that as part of its commitment to net zero carbon by 2040 and 100% renewable energy by 2030 as part of what it called The Climate Pledge, whose objective is to meet the Paris Agreement ten years ahead of schedule by 2040, it has ordered 100,000 electric delivery vehicles, which it said represents the “largest order ever for electric delivery vehicles.”

The City made it clear that “this fence needs replacement and for the provincial government and Metrolinx to make an important long-term infrastructure investment here in Vaughan.”

For a second year in a row, about 56 Tim Hortons stores backed by 15 local owners “in and around Vaughan” garner their efforts together to bring much-needed money for Hospice Vaughan.
